Children In Need

Recommended Posts

After a long day at work, I have drafted up emails both to the bbc and to the council, just going to read them through again make sure i've got the main points down and wait for their response!

Hopefully won't take too long, Children in need is on the 16th November, which is a Friday, so i'd imagine there will be plenty of people out raising money or supporting the event, so definately a lot of opportunity out there.

Thanks for the support from everyone (good point about the weather!), I'll update again soon, hopefully with some good news!

i recon it would be a great idea but hold them all over the country.

get demos from the "well known teams/ riders" and things like that.

hope it works out ben

What you got to think though is you cant get many teams on bored because they are international aswell.

And also im all behind this and i have wrote the birmingham council about it( Awaiting Reply).

But you want to go where people can see.

Needs to be a saturday in the middle of a town.

Birmingham, London, Cardiff?, Glasgow?, Liverpool, Manchester, Portsmouth.

You want it where the riders are and who the riders are.

People try and get big name riders to have a look at this topic.

Damon Watson, Tarty Adam, Neil Tunnicliffe, Jonny Mc they are all on this forum just need to diredt them to this topic.

Or even better make one of these in trials chat or chit chat so the will see it.

Im off now so i cant sorry lol.

Kepp me informed.

Basically yeah, given enough time we could do it. Make a shit load of fliers and ask shops to kindly put them up in there shop for us. It would HAVE to be a demo type thing though. On the streets it just wouldn't work, cos we'd be constantly moving around, and if were to raise money, people need to pay to do something. Make t - shirts. With a trials/children in need design and some funny hats for the kids. Somewhere central like birmingham. Get the Sentinel involved as well, i'm sure they'll report such a big charity organised thing. We should really make this happen it'd be such a good thing to do.

EDIT. We should have one demo, up in Scotland another in Birmingham and another somewhere far down south (Y) to maximize the money made for children in need, obviously all on the same day (Y)

Right lets get one thing sorted!

Talked to some contacts today and they said councils will not turn us down for the event/s for the simple fact it is for charity.

Im trying to get things sorted in the little time i have free but what i think we should try is if you all try and contact your local coucil/ mp's and discuss it with them then that is good then if i could turn around and say look i have the suporrt of 16 more mp's then that is banging.

But also what we need to try and do is turn around to the children in need hq or whatever it is and say look can you give us 15 minutes coverage of our trials. They may turn around and say why? And we can say it is something unuaslly and it was aranged but a group of anti social bums(but skip tht part out)

If you want to talk to me more then add me on msn joshyball16@hotmail.co.uk

I havn't read all the replies, but if what i say is already covered, then fair does.

This will never work if it is planned as just a group ride in (for example) London. The ride will progressivly move around the city, and NO member of the public will understand what is going on.

It needs to be held in a park, or shopping precint, with a demo rig set up, similar to the recent Onza show would be good. It would need advertising on the radio, in papers, buses, everywhere to get the idea around. T-shirt/mugs/hats or anything would probably be a good idea, get some with a trials logo, and CIN logo on them, sell them at the event. Theres loads that could be done.

Think about it. A group ride will not satisfy the needs of the idea.

Also, who h ere is willing to offer up there own dollar to pay for what would be required, just because it is for charity doesn't mean it'll come easy or free. There are going to be costs, costs need to be covered.

yer i see were you are coming from, so only way it is really going to work is if someone can get a lot of pallets and sort them out in to some sort of a demo type of thing. As in a park or something like Boumsong said.

Well not really because with the councils permission and backing you can turn around and sday we need this and that.

So we hav establised that it needs to be a fixed location and cant be a ride.

Needs to be a demo type thing.

If you want my opinion then we need to get onto the council soon.

i dont see why it just has to be pro rides becouse like we said at the begining of the topic we want to promote the sport and make some money for children in need.So if just pro rides go then people will think that you have to be very good to be able to do the sport, but really you dont, if you get what i mean

Thats why we have different routes set up. Maybe like a comp we have beginners elite intermedate and things like that.

We honestly need to stop tlkin bout this now n get some action done.

I remember something being said about Children in Need last year on here, nobody took the initiative to move it further an properly organise anything, so it just fizzled out. It's a shame that Simpsons LDN ride is on the 18th of Nov and not earlier, because Children in Need is 16th of Nov an it'd need to be done before the 16th to get any notice. Ideally though, London would be the place to do it, if Simpson can organise another big ride for then, an we all wore something that stood out (Pink is gay and also stands for Breast Cancer). If the London ride was moved to Sunday the 11th an everyone came along then I'm almost definitely sure we'd get abit of media attention.

Well, Heres an idea.

My girlfriend has recently done a similar thing.

She had a word with the headmaster at school and arranged to have a non-uniform day, every student pays a pound, to not wear a uniform.

With the money that she raised, she went to Primark and bought stupid amounts of clothes at silly prices, all clothes varied in size ect.

Then these were all just boxed up and sent over to where ever in the World.

Hope this helps,

Stefan.

can i make a geographic point in that despite there are a large concentration of riders from london, I think the REST of the UK would appreciate somewhere more central to the UK so they can atleast attend based on distance from themselves. IE birmingham or somewhere like that.

Yer i agree, something more like manchester, blackpool, leeds ?

To be honest i no where your coming from but theres riders all other the country and to make them all satisfied would be hard ?

How bout like 3 demo's in 3 different places ?

London, leeds, Scotland ?
