Sonny Clarke
TAR! Just wondering how you guys get your hands on it. I've heard people pinch it from shops like B&Q which i probably won't do ,burn it of the side of a road which might take ages, get it from a mate which i might do, or buy it (where from?).I've used it once and found it excellent, although my brakes did get stuck a few times due to poor Promax vee's...Also is it worth grinding, i don't own a angle grinder but can easily borrow one if its worth the effort.Cheers, Sonny
Sir_Hops_Alot
the best place is B&Q mate but if not then find some people who ride your area and im sure someone will have loads...i have a massive piece from medwaytrials. loser
If you are still using vee's, do NOT use tarYour brakes will stick and it will cause injuries.A grind would be your best option, and get some decent pads like cousts or plazzies. Alex@Flawless Bikes
Tar is fine on Vee's! You can buy tar off ebay, or steal it when they are laying roads.

lil Jsy Chris
You can by tar on ebay, it pops up now and again. Also, a grind is a great idea but I wouldn't say you need to really.

Ticker
Put a good grind on your rim and get some decent pads and your sorted, no need for tar then.
samster
get some v-adapters and get zoo pads on a smooth rim and put a little bit of tar on now and then it works savage

Adrian
if you ever see builders just ask them for some.... theyll give you some for deffo.... and a grind with crap pads wont work you need pads that are made for a grind, so tar *** in your case
Davetrials
tar isnt to bad, but only a lil bit, i knotice people who are knew to it use to much and it just doesnt work then, also with winter cumming up its a much better idea to invest in a grinder and some new pads.grinders are like a 10a from argos, and decent pads are like 15, and it means your brake will work in the wet, cause wet tar is like oil on your rim,

Sonny Clarke
Got my hands on some but when i go to put it on the rims it doesn't rub on like the one i borrowed from a mate. Do i have to do something to make it more soft in order to rub it on my rim. It is a large lump which looks like it has been just broken of the road? Is this the wrong type maybe? Cheers. Lloyd B
to get my hands on tar just look on the joins in the pavement or road (not a busy one trust me) and scrape it off with a screw driver then melt it down on an old tin or somthing with a lighter/blow tourch then wen it goes sticky roll it up and hey presto you have yorself some tar.if its not going on your rim spin your wheel realy fast whilst holding the bike up by the frame and push the block of tar onto the rim hard and repeat until your happy with the amount on your rim works for me every time.oh i forgot to say wen using this method be sure to take the stones out. if there are any unless you want a scrached rim lol
Sonny Clarke
OK so I'll either borrow a blow torch or use a lighter to make it more soft. Cheers guys, very help.
Lloyd B
you have to wait till it dries though you cant put the sticky stuff on your rim otherwise you pads stick its painfull trust me
