Red Arrows. Too British For The 2012 Olympics?!

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed 'too British'.

Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be 'offensive' to other countries taking part in the Games. The display team have performed at more than 4000 events worldwide, but the

Department of Culture, Media and Sport have deemed the display team 'too militaristically British'. Red Arrows pilots were said to be 'outraged', as they had hoped to put on a truly world class display for the Games, something which had never been seen before. Being axed from a British-based event for being 'too British' is an insult - the Arrows are a symbol of Britain .

The Red Arrows have been excellent ambassadors for British overseas trade, as they display their British-built Hawk aircraft all over the world.

The Arrows performed a short flypast in 2005 when the winning bid was announced, but their flypast at the Games was to have been truly spectacular.

It is to be hoped that common sense prevails

Sorry dude, it was found out to be a rumour ages ago.

Linky

Someone started a rumour on the internet about them not flying and somebody put a petition up against it. Just because its on the government petition site doesn't make them true as anyone can make a petition. Its barely moderated either, if it looks vaguely like a genuine petition they'll put it on.

rediculous, and the government wonder why the british people are loosing/lost interest with the out of touch eager to please minorities that supposedly run our country.

Dude, read the thread :P... not only have they not been cancelled or banned from flying, they havn't even been asked. It was a rumour and someone made a petition based on the rumour ;)

Regardless of if its being used in this debate or another, its still true about most things in this 'Nation'

What is British? Getting your knickers in a twist over 'political correctness gone mad', when actually nothing has happened. Brilliant.

There are loads of topics about this sort of thing and they invariably end in a few people getting suspensions, so I think I'll nip in before that happens. Go read the Daily Mail instead :P
