Tim214
Ok, so here's my story. Right now I'm doing a lot of urban free ride, and attempting some small trials stuff on my Giant STP. I'm really enjoying it, but I feel the bike is holding me back. It's really more of a dirt jumper than anything else. I want to buy a trials bike, but have no idea where to start. 20", 24", 26"? What brands to look for, what to avoid. Should I even pursue trials? I mean, is it really hard to start if you haven't been riding them for years? If you could please just give me a few pointers to get me off in the right direction, it would really be appreciated. Thank you! -Timothy Mitchell(PS, I'm a relatively big guy, 6'1", 190lbs) Edited October 6, 2007 by Tim214
bousfield19
if i was you i would start with a 26 because you are quite a tall chap you can get some good starter bikes on tartybikes.co.uk either that or ebay trials is quite hard to pick up but if you have the basic skills (good balance, back hopping etc ) you shouldnt take to long to start progressing
unissamog
It all depends on where you feel more comfortable. I would try to find some trials riders local to you with mod and stock biked that you can try out. I am just shy of 6'1" and weigh in at a hefty 225lbs, I ride both mod and stock, and enjoy both. I have an old Monty x-stam, which is shorter than newer bikes, but I can still easily ride it. Get out and try some bikes, it has to be what you want to ride, not what others tell you that you should be riding, if you are going to enjoy the sport.
