robb_o
My rear XTR v-brake makes some HORRIBLE vibrating noises as I'm riding.I appreciate it's where my wheel is flexing as i ride and my brake pad is tacky so it's trying to grip it.I think it's to do with the parallel linkage thing...I mean, I've had the brake for many years, and I can actually feel the movement in the brake pad when I wiggle it with my finger. My question is this - What can I do about it?I'm considering greasing all the links up, has anyone resolved this issue before? Tomm
The linkage will just develop play over time - there's not much you can do about it really (other than buy a new brake). Just get over it and ride, the power is still the same with a bit of a wobble.
Bionic Balls
my arch rival was similar....there's a small allen bolt inside the caliper that tightened it up...was still squeaky though! maybe get on shimano and find an exploded drawing of an xtr caliper- it might be adjustable.. eskimo
Mine goes nuts as well. My Plaz CRVs have killed 2 vee brakes now.I wouldn't mind using an Ultimate but if it still has movement i think i'll just buy a Hope disk.
