F-Stop Junkie
Huh, how is it insurance fraud? They gave him legit insurance based on a price he gave them? I don't see whats wrong about that? Not his fault if they can't tell a photoshop? As for not paying when/if the person crashes, why?"Er yeh, he gave us a made up quote so we aren't paying"."And thats the claimees problem how? you are the retards, not him, pay".Simple.Part of your insurance is that the information you give is accurate. If you give false information - say add a couple of years to your age - then your insurance could be invalid, hence no insurance charges. Most insurance companies will just refuse to match a stupidly low quote, but may well offer a very good alternative.Insurance assessors are absolute sods for trying to find any way to not pay out. If someone makes a claim against you, then your insurers will try to not pay. They'll challenge the person claiming, study statements, all sorts. One guy I used to work with was interviewed by an assessor for about half an hour, the same questions coming up again and again trying to catch him out. Same if I fit a performance exhaust and not declare it, you can bet i'd struggle to get a claim through if the car was inspected.
Hendrix
WELL.I can get insured, on a 2.5 Diesel Mercedes Sprinter, for just over £2300 a year, Full Comp. Now that's on dads insurance, with NO, no Claims...Mine is about £3K - £3.5.Yes. I'm under a year to go, but I will be having a van as my first transport, more likely an Older Transit, (ALOT CHEAPER.)So yeah...Get a van. Or a pickup....This is based on like 4 months ago, so it may have all changed now.OH - Before you say just get 3rd Party.... NO WAY. I ONLY do Full Comp

The information you give to the walk-in insurance company is accurate, they just compare their prices to the (false) quote printout and base their price as a comparison with those. The insurance is completely legal, they just beat prices that don't exist.

Whats the point? Even 2300 for a van i see as a bit stupid. Just throwing money away for the sake of it, get a shite car for a year then look at moving up the car ladder. Tony Harrison
WTF?! Who pays more than £1500 for insurance? Do any of you really need a car?!I know a scary number of people who wrote off exactly 3 cars in the first 2 years of driving. Irresponsible driving is everywhere, and all these accidents just keep pushing the premium up.Yes, there are lots of ways to try and get cheaper insurance, but like F-Stop says, insurers will try and worm out of paying. Start having the car registered at an address 500 miles away, or to someone else, etc, and you'll get screwed.Bin the Quicksilver - just buy a 1990 1100cc Fiesta and rag that for a couple of years, ideal first car, plus easy to maintain so you can learn a bit about cars. BONGO
mate, these threads are never useful. To you i mean. Everyone finds some companies more expensive than aothers, but the ting is, there is never a pattern. Ian found tesco good, and they tried to rape me. Axa were good to me, but raped my dad (yeah, in his ass!).You gotta just do the work and type like a twat for hours one night to try loads of companies.I'm happy with the way i did it though, which was the first 2 years go on my parents. It was much cheaper, and i saved more in them 2 years by doing that, than i would have by getting an extra 2 years of no claims. So it was well worth the choice. If it's not an option though, keep looking round. As much as you don't want to, get fully comprehensive insurance. Or you'll be stuffed big time 'when' you crash. (you probably will at some point to be honest in the first 2 years) Nearly everyone does...

_Owen.
Haha, my brother used to pay like £2300 on his fiesta (1.8 xr at 17 with one crash cough cough) so your quote aint actually that badAnd ye try places like quinn and stuff, that specialize in more performance cars (i know the 106 isnt exactly performance, but it say quicksilver in the name, so that will like tripple the price ) but ye just have a good look around a huge amount of insurers and you should find a suitable one, that doent break the bank. The quotes shown to you by moneysupermarket are guideline prices set by the insurance companies by the online search. Those are the ones you screenshot and edit. Gavyn.
hahaha Your friends got a 1000 bhp skyline and you want a decent car, so you get quotes on a 106 quicksilver. A 106 is no where near decent in comparisin to 1000bhp skyline. if i were you i'd forget that your friends have these "decent" cars and get something you plan to keep for a few years before moving onto something quicker - something really cheap to and run insure just to build up the no claims. Then when you feel your ready for something that will shift buy a ctr or a 106 gti. Much better than going for an in between car which gets pwnd by a mini costs loads to insure because loads get written off and is definatly not going to keep up with your friends cars
planet-x-boy
Quinn-direct is the cheapest insurance company for young drivers. Fact. Im paying 1200 quid on a mk4 golf 1.4 on 3rd party f+t only passed on friday and im 17. But iv also had quotes for a saxo vtr for 1400 quid and a 106 rallye 1.6 8v for 1450 quid. Quicksilver was 1400 too!!.Ring them up and talk to them, go through all the questions etc and it will definatly be cheaper then £1600 !!!Brett
