Ok right i will shortly starting to drive and have started looking round for some quotes. I know the car i want a 106 quicksilver looking to spend 1600 upwards to 2000 no more. 2000 model preferably but i have looked around and the cheapest insurer is e car for 1,600 is that extortionate? The car is 1.4 1360cc with third party fire and theft if you need to know, anyone know of a really dirt cheap insurer?

PLEASE HELP ME

Tom

I thought Tesco was good, then I moved house and the premium more than doubled because it was supposedly a dodgy area! Might be worth trying them, online quote in a few minutes. Also confused.com, but I'm guessing you've done that already.

yeah tried tesco and direct line both at like 2,600 (no thanks) and confused got me the original quote so come on guys find me a really chap insurer :P

easy awnser is to get a different car one not in such a high insurance cattogry

my citroen ax is about £700 third party fire and theft

that logic actually blinded me (Y).

I pay about £250 or something fully comp on a 1600i rover and I've only been driving since July :P - one of the benefits of age

Don't ask me who it's with - the missus organises that sort of thing

The Quicksliver 1.4i is very common and chavs crash them all the time - that's why the insurance is so silly.

Here's a story about how someone managed to get insured on a Pulsar GTi-R at the age of 19 with 0 NCB.

- Firstly, locate a local walk-in insurance store that promises to 'beat or match any other quote'.

- Go on moneysupermarket.com and add 1-2 years to your age and/or some no claims bonus.

- Take a screenshot of said (false) quotes and import into Photoshop.

- Change your age/NCB back to original and lower the quotes some more (optional).

- Print (false) internet quotes.

- Wait until 4.55pm (or 5.25pm, depending on when they close) and walk in.

- Study the employees carefully and pick one who wants to go home.

- Walk up to them and go through the process, when they ask for other quotes present the (false) ones you got on the internet.

- They beat/match said (false) quotes and you walk away insured for a lot less than normal.

- Laugh.

Most quotes come with a Reference number and is not classed as a valid quote until its been reviewed by the insurer. Although, if you're catching people on their way home, it could well work...Illegal? I doubt it, it'll be a difficult decision in court :P

just go on your parents insurance with directline cause you still build up your no claims. my insurance on my own was ament to be £1,200 but i went on my dads and it is now £479

How can you do that because my mom has like 30+ no claims bonuses :) she pays something stupid like 200 or less on a 2ltr does it actually woprk?

£1,178.18 on my punto S 1.2

Dads the names driver on it, im the owner and insurer :)

This is cool, but be careful of the common dodge of parent owner/insurer but young person actually owns the car. A couple of people at uni did this (paying the premium of their parents address) and the insurance assesser told them to get knotted when they pranged it at uni.

Not only is this insurance fraud, but also technically driving without insurance, which your insurers would have no hesitation reporting to the fuzz.

Mine was £1800 I think when I first started driving, 1ltr 12v Corsa, 1998 S Reg, GLS. That was fully comp, in my name as well I think so I could start getting NCB. I know you would love the Quicksilver, but maybe wait a couple of years and get a less powerful/good car as your first - just so you get used to the roads/motorways properly, there are some idiots out there and having a 1.4 probably won't help things, as its most likely your right foot will be come heavy lol! Good luck though mate, hope it works out and you get a car you're relatively happy with!

Amen! I had several years on my parents direct line policy, got my own policy and a five year 'no claims' discount - but with some restrictions on what car I could insure. Now paying 350 a year fully comp, with a grand of stereo cover, and absolutley no hassle when my window got smashed.

Thing to remember with insurance is you get what you pay for. If you pay peanuts, you can get hassle when you really don't need it. I know the claims my parents have made have been all taken care of without any problems at all.

Huh, how is it insurance fraud?

They gave him legit insurance based on a price he gave them? I don't see whats wrong about that?

Not his fault if they can't tell a photoshop? As for not paying when/if the person crashes, why?

"Er yeh, he gave us a made up quote so we aren't paying".

"And thats the claimees problem how? you are the retards, not him, pay".

Simple.
