NileBrown™
Do you tuck when doing your sidehops? If not, start to tuck. Or if thats not the case, build leg muscle to so you can put some extra power down

loser
Tucking is only really necessary if you tuck before you land, because that means that your bringing up the bike in the air and not just doing it to look 'cool'.
Boswell
Have you tried one of those mini exercise trampolines. My advice is to work on your pre loading. Edited September 28, 2007 by Boswell

Grant Hundley
Preload and bit of extra kicking power works.
eskimo
Tucking is only really necessary if you tuck before you land, because that means that your bringing up the bike in the air and not just doing it to look 'cool'. I've seen a few people working on the tuck even though they can't really go very high. Tucking the 'fashion' way also throws you off balance. Perhaps try the 'natural' way, if you want to call it that. I just mean use you pedal to hook on the obstacle. After you kick bring either foot you are using right up and land solely on that, call cheating if you will, but i'm sure the tuck isn't going to help you onto that thin, slippy rock
d_c
I also got stuck at 39-40inch when i was practicing sidehops!I just worked on my technique, and practiced.Eventually you will go higher! And also, i used to stay right far to the back of my bike, (this also caused me to bang my knee) so i practiced being more flexible and leaning forward more! This helped me Danny.
