roboet
Can you give me some comments about YaaBaa 599 model? Is it good for its price? Is it well built? The most important - is it strong? Can one rely on it for everyday use and a little bit of trials riding?
Alex Dark
well...it looks fairly sturdy with a good set of try-all components. The only real bad points that i can see is that it uses a deore rear hub ( freehub wont handle trials for more than a few weeks ) and it runs on vees which although CAN be used for trials, arent the ideal choice, especially no brand aluminum ones. For anyone else that wants to comment on this topic, below is a link of the translated page:http://www.tiny.cc/9twXt
MadManMike
Most factory ready bikes have poor components, but that seems good - like Dark Biker said you may want to change the rear hub and the brakes but it would be fine if you're just learning - to be honest a Magura HS33 is a good option for the rear brake and that's cheap enough Forgot to add, when I started trials I had the same hub as that, it held up fine for over a year until I started putting more power down so you'd not need to replace it immediately! roboet
I won't use the bike for agressive trials, so I guess it will longer. What Hub do you suggest me to buy? As for the brakes - the same answer. They'll do fine for now. If I have problems, I'll change them.Is it strong? I've read (on the "translated" page from YaaBaa.com) that it's fit for street/trials and can move anywhere. That is just what I want, as I won't be doing much trials moves. Just s pedal up from time to time. (Bunny)Hops and rear wheel hops. No big hights, no big pressures on the bicycle.
MadManMike
It looks strong enough to me!Personally I would get a pair of Magura HS33 brakes as the brake upgrade, I'm not too sure on the hub though.
roboet
Thank you for your replies. That was what I wanted to hear.Does anyone suggest a Hub replacement? And if/when I replace it, do I have to change other parts?
MadManMike
And if/when I replace it, do I have to change other parts? No, but you'd need someone to build the wheel again as you only replace the hub not the whole wheel - do you have a local bike shop that could rebuild the wheel? roboet
Yes. It's the best in my country. Are you sure you can't suggest a model/brand for the hub? Will an ECHO Hub fit?
Alex Dark
Well, you could replace the hub with something along the lines of a Chirs King(300 ish) or a profile(150ish), or, you could buy a fixed hub ( 70ish), change the cranks (50 ish)and run a front freewheel(30 ish). All three are expensive options, but as MadManMike said, the hub will last for a fair while, if you dont put that much power through the drivetrain, so it might be better to simply replace it when it breaks, and with replacement freehubs at only 15 pounds they aren't such a bad option to consider. roboet
Can you tell me which of these will do a good job (if any): http://www.trialmarkt.de/ (in the left side menu -> Naben)
MadManMike
I don't know much about hubs, but Echo, Chris King, Hope etc will all be a huge improvement on the one it has as standard
roboet
OK. I'll probably not brake this one. But in case I do, I just want to know what compatibility issues I might have with a new one? What dimensions (again, if any) should I look for etc.
NVWOCI WVS
What dimensions (again, if any) should I look for etc.135mm spacing, 10mm diameter

matt rushton
I would say Hope Pro2 for hub. Also if you can wait save up and get the 999 as they are the same frame as the old Koxx levelboss.Matt Rushton
roboet
matt, I want to have a seatpost and the 999 costs too much for me to ride "a little trials" on it. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll stay with the 599.
icemann
hey iam kinda new.. in this forum.. and new to trials.. i`ve been riding street and some trials for 2 or 3 years.. but now i am thinking for the real trials..anyway.. my choises are YaaBaa Totskoye for now.. or echo pure.. so i was wondering.. did u buy that yaabaa and is it good or the echo is better.. thanks
roboet
I'll definately go with the Echo Pure if I were you and wanted to do trials for real. I am buying Yaabaa (and this model specifically), because it is cheap, durable and it is also suited for riding from place to place. If you want to ride trials and be good at it - Echo. Anyway, I've heard that KOXX's (which is the company behind Yaabaa/TryAll/...) prices are a little high for the quality. So, definately not the Yaabaa (not this 599 one, anyway). I'd also recommend Czar if you have the funds. When I buy the bicycle, I'll give some more comments about it here (and some photos probably). icemann
well as far as i can see here in bulgaria..
