JonMack
There are quite a few Tom, I used to use a good one but can't remember what it's called. I'll check LifeHacker see what I can conjure up.These are quite good. http://lifehacker.com/software/step-by-ste...rive-300384.phphttp://lifehacker.com/software/backup/geek...ckup-248943.phpI used to have to do mine over a network so used to use something different, but those should help. Check the comments too, theres usually useful suggestions there. Edited January 12, 2008 by JonMack

future orange 660
just wondering..why are apple so keen to launch a high number of products in a short space of time? new imac. new ipods. iphone. leopard. macbook airanyone know why they are doing it so quickly?usually people hold releases according to markets eg gaming, but apple seem to be churning out loads of stuff. admittedly new products sometimes. more and more mac users though.. but have the percentages changed from pc to mac much? or is the increased shared with pc?not that i know. maybe some people do. nc7r
new imac. new ipods. iphone. leopard. macbook airanyone know why they are doing it so quickly?Firstly 'cos Apple are a business. They want new revenue streams all the time. Secondly, technology moves at a stupidly fast rate meaning new product updates for speed bumps and such should be done every few weeks if possible.Glad Jon sorted it. Make sure you do an 'Archive and Install' rather than an update for your computer up to Leopard.More info here. We've been having tonnes of problems with just drop-in disk updates to Leopard, including my computer.
Janson
now i'm confused. i will be doing my swap according to this:1. put new hdd in USB chassi2. mount leopard dvd3. install leopard on the external4. at the end of the installation (apparently) it will ask if i wanna copy stuff from another hdd or mac (is this true on leopard?)5. i will choose to copy all my data from my internal drive to the new one6. i will fit the new hdd in the macbook and put the old one in the USB chassiswhere does the 'archive and install' thing come in play?
