mountian goat
Just wondering what you guys think of this disc, seems very good deal to me: -Under £40 -Hyrdolic duel piston -203mm size discThe disc brake!Cheers Edited September 24, 2007 by cw00
koxxtrials
203mm is miles to big for a mod i would say that the avid juicy 3 is better well that's what i am getiing it cost £50 a definatly a good brake and is hydraulicwell worth it have a look at this, the brake that is pictured is probably rubbish avid juicy 3 Edited September 24, 2007 by koxxtrials
NileBrown™
Hmmm, im not sure on this one mate, I mean its not really a trials brake, more of a xc brake so mite not stop you sharply etc but im guessing you going for the cheapness, and the size of the rotor. Now if I had the choice, I would never anything made but that company, but thats my opinion. I would go for something like a bb7 or even a hope as you can pick these up pretty cheaply off here. But its up to you mate, I mite be completely wrong and could be a great brake! Does anyone have one of these? maybe they could help more? mountian goat
Yeah good point, not really trials specific brake. Maybe when ill get validated i'll set up a WTD thread in the classified, and hunt for a decent front disc and back hs33. How much you reckon i could get that for? NileBrown™
A good hope - about 50- 60 for the 05? one and above 75 for the newer one, a bb7 can be found reasonably cheap but it depends what it is ( caliper on its own/what cable/what lever) I got mine for free off Joe Maher lol but they can be about 40 quid or about 50 quid complete, and a rear hs33 can be bought for about 30 quid of you look places and pads are reasonably cheap also. MetalheadA7X
My sister has them on her New Saracen Raw 3 DH bike. They are quite strong but the rotor is abit too big for trials in my opinion.I don't think they are as sharp as you might want for trials like Maggies or a hope. But i honestly don't know if you should go for them or not. Possibly wait and see.I prefer maggies to disks anyway. Chris Edited September 24, 2007 by MetalheadA7X
Dom94trials
well i don't really know... but i thing under £50 is a great deal for a hydrolic disc break, it might not be specifically built for trials but i'm sure it could stand the punishment. Alex@Flawless Bikes
I would say go for it! I know its a 203mm rotor, but i have used this brake before on a 160mm and its was cr*p. However on the 203mm it might be ok and plus for under £40 can't really go wrong.

mr_malcolm
MR Malcolm uses them on his mountain bike, there really goodi use one on my dj bike and have no toruble at all think they work a treat just make sure you give them time to bed in properly before you start thinking oh this is crap. i am accctually considering buying another one soon for my trials bike and get rid of my shimano cable disk
RobinJI
Couple of the carerras at work come fitted with them. To be fair they're a really good break. Loads of bite even when they're not bedded in, should work well, and for a 203mm hydro disc 35 quid is effing stupid! Let alone a good one! loser
Ok thanks, two more thing, where can i find the BB7 on CRC. And any recomended chainstay guards please, i'm looking into getting one.BB7There is the link to the BB7, if I were you, I would get an Avid sd7 lever to go with it.Also try and get some decent brake cable to go with it, this will make the brake feel better.160mm will be plenty for a mod aswell. Here is the link for a chainstay protector.chainstay protectorBut I found wrapping an old cut up inner tube around the chainstays, held on with cable ties will work fine.
