matt rushton
Hy guys !post only ifyou switched from Stock2mod or the other way around or you have a mod-What's the difference in feeling when going from stock to mod? Feels to flow alot better.-Why did you make the change? Because mods felt too small for me. -Have your moves improved since you changed from one to the other? Yeah alot I would say.-Which moves got easier to do and which ones got harder? taping, gaps, well everything really.-What would be different between Zoo python 375mm chainstays(only mod frame i know with that geo) ..and the most others 360mm? Not sure on that oneThanks!I went from a Zona Zip to a Aorta. I would never go back to a mod now to be honest. All mods are good for is sidehoping.Matt Rushton Edited September 19, 2007 by matt rushton

eskimo
I've been between a few recently (the last year or so). I've found every sort of movement on a stock is alot easier and less effort to go the same height or distance. However i'm pretty sure the mod liked to hop better than any stock i've used. Other than that mod i've found to be cheaper and less hassle with maintaince and fitting in the shed and car.
Bionic Balls
steve bought a mod t'other week....and i had a good go..we've both been riding stock for a good 3 years so it felt very small tis ALOT less effort riding natural (we both find), i think because you don't have to move as much (and it's lighter?)- makes riding 26 on rocks feel like you are driving a bus. i found smaller sidehops much less effort, but bigger ones just the same- but i may be a spacktard. wheelie hops take serious getting used to! on the 26 i have to really kick to get it up, but on the mod you'd go straight off doing that- it's all in body motion...summed up- it all feels weird to me cos i'm not used to it!steve'll probably come in here at some point.. modman
I found from moving from a stock to a mod that:The bike was easier to manouver,The bike is alot lighter,Found generally that my moves improved bigtime,Better suited to my height,Cheaper to mantain etc.And just generally more fun to ride. The cons of having a mod were:Couldn't pedal very fast,Rolling resistance greatly inscreased,Lack of double disk frames.Thats about it for me, But im sure everyone is different. Simpson
Well i started on a Stock and rode for about 2....ish years on it, then i sold up my long echo control and got a short GU mod-What's the difference in feeling when going from stock to mod? - Well its a lot lot easier. Its lighter, i could throw it a lot harder and pull it a lot further up. I progressed loads and found myself just tapping up everything, when i could never tap my stock... which is kinda the wrong way round! should be easier to tapp a stock but oh well! ive had a lot more fun on it! sometimes to make it easier made it more fun! i think that because i rode BMX for like 2 years before starting trials a 20" suited me a lot more! really trying to get a streety bmx stlye going!!! Fun to bunnyhop and flick deffo -Why did you make the change? - i swapped because i really wasnt progressing and i fell off it and had to have major surgeory to save my life so was forced to take 6months off. (well... 2months but shhh) so i thought sodd it ill sell up had some money tucked away and my friend was selling a totally pimp GU for a good price so just seemed like the perfect oportunity to make the exchange!!!-Have your moves improved since you changed from one to the other? Yea i think within the 1st 3 weeks i could get up double the height... gap about 2" further, and just had a lot more fun genrally! dont really do sidehops lol-Which moves got easier to do and which ones got harder? for me the control was toooo massive and so held me back in everything... so getting a short mod really just inspired me and made me push myself and improved in everything!-What would be different between Zoo python 375mm chainstays(only mod frame i know with that geo) ..and the most others 360mm? - well it would be a lot longer! hahaha like more static moves i think youd probably struggle on bunnyhops and rollings... i love short mods... but wanna get a really long 1... i think its good to keep changing things just to keep you interested in the sport!!! i think if you have the same bike and all the same spots thing get boring cos there samey......So id do it deffo only been good for me.... apart from im a stupid mod boy now... and classed as a yut
eXtreme_one
thanks a lot for sharing your experiences on mod Mostly the reason my friend wants to switch is because he wants to try something new and as you said this gives you another experience/feeling while riding trials. NVWOCI WVS
mod feels smaller, flickier and scarier on big stuff than a stock but depends on type of mod/stock. ie geometry etc Edited September 19, 2007 by samdoman
Steve H
Also longer stay are easier for sidehops, gaps, but make you more stretched out when both wheel are on floor(ie riding to a spot ect)Mods are the way forward, especially if your small like me.I did ride a t-rex , too heavy, too big and generally held me back from doing moves that all my mates were doing!Got a GU short mod and it took about a 2-3 weeks to get use to it, form that point forward Ive progressed ten foldin everything.I could'nt even sidehop properly on the Rex, now on Gu thats all im good at is sidehops!Rode a mates zoo and they are soo nice for doing sidehops. If your like 6ft + ( Leacock), I'd stay with stock, or get a really long mod to make things more in proportion!!Steve
ogre
i moved to stock and i improved quite alot, my gaps + up have suffered a bit (to soft gear atm) but i'm far more confident on it and i think i'm a bit smoother to stock ***
