Shaun H
I'm with Chris, just get the f**k out of the thread being a twat. Plus you said it's 'probably fairly good' but say youre not 'zombified enough to buy one' although, it's 'probably fairly good' so you're just contradicting yourself you retard.I'm hardly being a twat, I'm not the one making personal attacks on people!I mean I'm not zombified enough to fall for Apple's (clearly very excellent) advertising and pay the huge cost to get the iPhone when there's similarly (although maybe not as good, I don't know I've only read about the options, not used them) specced phones for much less dollar. Take that as you will but please don't start hurling abuse at me just because my opinion doesn't make sense to you.
munkee
Until they have something like that then I'm really not interested.Indeed, i've been looking to move from pay as you go (with O2) to a contract. Thought about waiting for the iphone but its the deal that is putting me off it... considering places like orange offer unlimited txt's or minutes off peak as well as decent peak rates the ones posted in this thread seem seriously crap. I expect the iphone would take off huge in the uk if it was offered along side a better contract deal.

It may surprise you that most people who own iPods use them and like them, they didn't just buy them because they've been brainwashed by the evil Apple inc. Maddox is right about the 'Mac community' thing - wanting to be part of the exclusive community is pretty lame, but then again there are some pretty similar people who are vehemently anti-Mac and that's equally retarded. Most normal people are just somewhere in the middle - if they like something, they will buy it. Simple. The iPhone has sold loads because it's an awesomely pimp piece of equipment for anyone who likes gadgets (a lot of people nowadays). OK, so it might not have 3G or video but that's not an issue to most people. I'm sure you buy clothes (and mobile phones, for that matter) based on how they look, how they feel etc, not just how many functions they have. My Quicksilver jeans aren't breathable or waterproof or anything clever like that, they are just comfortable and look good, that's all they do. Tomm
true tomm, but some people look for functionality in phones.I have a PDA phone and I use the PDA bits of it. For this reason I wouldn't buy an iPhone as it is, since my Orange m700 does everything the iPhone can and much more, albeit with slightly less style. But I'm sure I'm slightly unusual in that respect - the average person wants their phone to take shit pictures of them and their mates whilst out drinking and maybe listen to a few mp3s (Which just about every recent phone can do). Most phones will do most of the things people want them to, so for a LOT of people it's a case of getting the most stylish phone they can. JonMack
Get a Nokia 3310 then But yeah, I'm not a fan of all these phones that try to do everything, when they can only do everything badly.Exactly.No I don't want a 3310 but you know what i mean. I don't want a shit 3mp camera, I want my decent dSLR. I don't want a shit media player, i've got my iPod (in fairness if I had an iPhone i probably wouldnt use my Nano, but WMP on my M700 sucks, that's why I dont use it), i don't want to watch videos on my phone, because the screen is so small, if i'm going somewhere with such a long journey that I need to watch a video, I'll probably take my laptop, or just listen to music anyway. But I will probably end up with an iPhone because I'm a zombie who's brain has been taken over by Apple to buy all their products even though they all suck...Or maybe I just like the way they work, and want to support the company. ManxTrialSpaz
Personally, I don't see the need for an iPhone. What seems to be the most appealing thing about it, is the touch screen. Past that, it's just loaded with features that I don't really give two shits about. Maybe some people will use them but after the novelty wears off, who will regularly browse the internet? (Yes, I am excluding business people from this - but they may be attracted to other phones?...) To me, it just seems liek a load of consumerism bs. Check emails which I need to do quite a lot, but yeah I guess it's for business not so much pleasure. They've hooked up with that company who do all of the internet in Weatherspoons, the Goose bla bla all them. So it'd be handy for the pub quiz

Si-man
Sod paying £35 for a laugh for the contract!! Thats like a £20 contract with t-mobile. I pay £35 for my contract (+£50 for the N95 handset) and get way more shit than that.Another apple gimick that people will regret buying. Haz
I'm lovin' the mac/anti-mac love/hate in this thread.I won't get one. I only got a SE k800i because my Nokia 3310 (finally) broke. But they do look pretty nice, and have some kinda nice features.
Simon
I know it has a slide to unlock thing, but a touch screen device that 99% of the time is in your pocket?Awesome.I'd like one, but not for that price. I'm talking 35 a month, better minutes and text and a free phone.

And people have been using PDAs for years. Mine certainly still work fine after months of being in my pocket. The only difference is that the iPhone has a more durable glass front (compared to plastic on most phones/PDAs etc). That's a rubbish argument
Billy
As much as I like I-Pods/Macs, I really couldn't care less about the I-Phone. Yeah, its got all these features etc. but like someone else said, I use my phone as a phone. Not a shitty quality camera/mp3 player/email/internet browser/whatever else with a built in phone like most mobiles are nowadays. I'm happy with my Nano, shitty old Sony Ericsson phone and my D200 And touch screen on a phone sounds like a bloody awful idea too I think

poopipe
touch screens on phones are fine - I'm on my second one and theyve both been excellent.not that getting an Iphone is a good idea. Ive got a far superior device in my pocket right now that cost half as much on a £20 a month contract.

Tomm
I've got an Orange m700 (google it if you care) which runs Windows Mobile. You would be very correct in thinking that the touch screen is a bit annoying. Although it works well, it's very easy to press the wrong button since you can't feel what you're doing. And there's certainly no texting without looking either. The handwriting recognition is cool though and if you're sat at a desk then it's probably faster than T9 or whatever. To be honest, as a phone for calls/texting, the m700 is pretty rubbish. But for lots of other things it's cool so I like it.In terms of the m700 vs iPhone, the m700 has 3G, video calling, MMS, GPS. I'd probably swap it for an iPhone though
