very nice brakes.

feel positive, they are specced on alot of marin bikes, the difference between the 3,5,7,then carbon and ultimate is better grade of alloy body/lever, pad adjustment on 7 and carbon levers on carbon, and the ultimate, well there pretty much FULLY machined, look really nice. but you will bust the bank getting one.

best one would be at least a 5 of 7.

Hope that helps dude, never used one for trials but i would have thought on a 20" bike a 160mm rotor would be great and a 26" bike use a 180. They feel very solid when there bedded in properly and have impressive stopping power.

gotta say if you got for a juicy 7 you wont be dissapointed. awesome power, great modulation, nice lever feel. adjustable bite point. good build quality- not hope standard....... but i prefer the feel. and the new 08 ones that hawzee showed us last week have been slimmed down a fair amount. and are look a bit fly! im contemplating getting them for my dh bike.

go for it!

I have two Juicy 3s on my dirt jumper, they're good brakes- have lots of bite if you have the right pads. However, the lever just doesn't feel very nice to me, it seems quite lifeless and there is also quite a large distance to pull the lever before the pads come into contact with the disc.

Great for the money though £45 from chain reaction!

I loved my Juicys. I was one of the first people to try one on a trials bike, and was very very impressed with its performance (well it was a 203mm and it was on a mod) but even on my stock, it was so powerful.

The pad adjustment isnt just a gimick, it really does allow you to set the brake up exactly how YOU want it. Theres nothing worse than having to get used to how a brake feel, when it should be set to the riders preference. I have now gone back to a Juicy 7 again, from my Mono trial, as I prefer it so much. The lever has a nice strong feel to it, and its very responsive, with no spongeyness. I would suggest the 7 out of the whole range, but stick to the base one in 185mm. The extreme is too over engineered and silly money, and the carbon lever version lacks the confidence that the lever will put up with abuse.

Go for the 7 if money will allow, however the 5 is just as powerful with the same feel, just without the apd adjustment.

While we're on the subject of Juicys (which are good, I have a Juicy 7 but it's already been covered)...

On the Juicy 7s and some Juicy 5s (but not the 3s), if you push the lever away from the bar, it moves a bit and clicks into a different position. This is obviously a 'feature' of the brake but I can't work out what it's for. Any ideas?

I've got a Juicy 7, been running it for about 18 months. They are really nice brakes, and compared to a cable brake feel so much better. I haven't had any problems with mine in that time either so they are reliable, still feels as positive as when it was new. Only thing is they don't have as much bite as a BB7, which is a bit annoying for trials really. They are powerful but sometimes I am left wanting more bite for dodgy front wheel moves on rails etc. Thats using a 185mm rotor btw.l

Moves the pads out doesn't it?

Joe's got one on his pure and its beast.

Totally agree with all of that. Feels sooo much better than a BB7 though. Mine sometimes has perfect bite, usually when it's a bit damp. Most of the time it's slightly less bitey than a BB7, which is either a good or a bad thing depending on your preference. The red dial on mine has just broken though :( (harder to adjust now, not that I ever really need to adjust it)

Moves the pads out doesn't it?

Nope, it doesn't move the pads.

saves the lever (and possibly your body) in a crash

Yeah, I sort of thought that's what it was for, but I just can't see how it would help in a crash?
