Egg Fried Rice
Right, having a discussion with my friend and we are both slightly confused with what you get with fully comp and what you get with 3rd part fire and theft insurance cover.I always thought that if you have been 3rd party on lets say your mums car for no matter how many years, when you decide to go on your own insurance on fully comp, your no claims bonuses on your 3rd party insurance will be wiped and effectively you are a 'new driver'. Someone explain this shizzle lolThankssssssJK
Will Arnold
with third party you can only drive your car, but with fully comp u can drive in other peoples cars too!and as for the 3 years worth of third party being wiped when u go fully comp, it depends on the particular company i think, best to try each company individually! AdamR28
with third party you can only drive your car, but with fully comp u can drive in other peoples cars too!Only if you are over the age of 25. It means you are covered 3rd party only, too.3rd party means the cover is for the 3rd party (the other person) only - fully comp is both you and them. 3rd party Fire & Theft... well thats kinda obvious
hI-OOPS-CAPS
you must be the policy holder and fully comp to drive other peoples cars, sadly with their permissionim not sure about the age of 25, though makes senseyou only get no claims bonuses being the policy holder, being a named driver you get none

Fish-Finger-er
with third party you can only drive your car, but with fully comp u can drive in other peoples cars too!and as for the 3 years worth of third party being wiped when u go fully comp, it depends on the particular company i think, best to try each company individually!hope thats not the rule your living by, its pretty wrong, its totally wrong i think.third party means your insured for any damage caused to a third party(i.e who/wat you hit will get repaired/replaced/compensate as will your passengers)fully comp, means if you smash your car up, and its done in a good and legal fashion in terms with your insurance, theyll repair/replace that too. and as for the 3 years TPFT insurance going when you go fully comp. its got nothing to do with changing the level of cover, its the policy holder that matters. for exampe i could insure my car third party for a year, then fully comp for 2, then third party for a year. id still have 4 years no claims, as id had insurance in my name for 4 years. if your mum has had you on her insurance for 4 years fully comp or third party, you wont have any ncb for yourself, unless your with directline, which is a massive con anyway. some insurers if you go with who your mum was with, may give you a discount for telling them youd be on your mums for 3 years or whateverOnly if you are over the age of 25. It means you are covered 3rd party only, too.3rd party means the cover is for the 3rd party (the other person) only - fully comp is both you and them. 3rd party Fire & Theft... well thats kinda obvious depends on your insurer, some insurers wont cover you to drive other peoples cars regardless of age, whereas others will give it you at 21. and others are a bit funny about it, such as "3rd party on any vehicle not registered at your home address, which must have a policy already active on it"
James Quigley
My fully comp cover in my own name will only cover me third party on other cars when I'm 25 (Admiral)I even offered to pay extra for that privalige now but they said they cant do it.
