trial-biker-ryan Posted September 11, 2007 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 Hey all....Last week i threaded and tore out all the threads in one of my four bolt mounts...i got it tapped to m6 so i could attend a ride,Now its doing my nut as i have to run no booster and have to file down one part of any for bolt mounts i get.. making them usless to anyone else.. mean i cant sell them at a later date.can i get them helicoiled back to m5?... if not is there any other methods that can help?Also what are the pro's and cons of these methods?Cheers Guys..Ryan... Luke Rainbird Posted September 11, 2007 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 Either tap/helicoil them all out to M6orSpeak to Edd Potts, he'll sort you out a treat if he has time I got my frame off to him a while back (all mounts were M6) and he made up some new inserts to take them all to M5, and are now all far stronger than they ever have been before (including original threads/original helicoils...) I dont see any reason why he carnt, you have to tap it to m6 anyway inorder to screw one in.Go to local garage or summert see if they got one lying around.
