NVWOCI WVS
ok, so im thinking of saving weight/getting my brake set up better, so im thinking of replacing my current revell rear rim with a revell front rim and shrinking my rear tyre down to a 2.35 high roller.would this be any good? i know the front is only single wall, but if im super smooth on it woud it work?my reasoning is: it's lighter and it's narrower so i'll be able to get a better setup on my vee hopefully

Fishy
Pretty sure Rowan Johns uses a front Echo 07 rim on the back.
Flubber
if your smooth i would go for it, you may need a higher pressure in the back like
Luke Rainbird
Pretty sure Rowan Johns uses a front Echo 07 rim on the back.YepIf you're not a basher, or run decent pressure, and a half decent rim, you'll be fine
Tommy d
Narrow rim that's light and strong? EX721?
Fixed Pantsâ„¢
Tommy knows it, i think, the mavic something 731something or something (hmm, maybe EX721 is the new name for it, i remember something like that changing) rims are strong as fock? And are lighter than any wide rear rim even when drilled...
basher
I wouldnt do it, you dont see the big weight weenies on here and people like hermance doing it so i wouldnt do it i cant see it standing up to alot of abuse.
PaRtZ
dont thinner rims give more tyre fold?
AdamR28
Yurp.Front Echo rim wouldn't be bad at all, its heavier than a Try-All rear...

Egg Fried Rice
The reason why rowan is running echo front on the rear is because echos are double walled rims, and are much stronger than the try-all single walled rim.JK

manuel
Pretty sure Rowan Johns uses a front Echo 07 rim on the back. i use it because it is slightly narrower than the slugger rear rims, its a shade lighter than a DX32 and as strong / stronger too. it also seems to have thicker sidewalls (although i could be wrong there) which kind of adds up. the rear rim is far too overkill for me. oh i also use a single wall tyre on the back which also works fine .... EDIT : just reread the opener - go down to a 2.35 whatever.... Edited September 11, 2007 by manuel
pengsmelly
well if your confident that your smooth and run good pressure i think its a good idea. do it.
Davetrials
i used a front echo rim ion the rear, was fine, just thinner.
AdamR28
it also seems to have thicker sidewalls30% thicker than normal, rears 50% thicker.
