Fish-Finger-er
i like very much so, and with a sensible size screen for actually watching films, im almost tempted, if it wasnt for the dire memory, 16gb(the highest currently shown) is less than half my music collection.more totally shocked at the price drop of the regular ipod(classic as its now billed) 80gb for £160 on there should soon equal £140ish on ebay. making it very affordable(i need a new ipod, mine is now 3.5 years old and gettin a bit tired). although am tempted to go for the 160gb version for £230.whats the deal with videos an ipod would play, as the idea of having 50gb of music on my ipod, and another 110gb of films on there is hugely appealing for when on the move, do they need to be converted, and if so how long will this take per film roughly? and is anyone aware of picture quality when connected up to a tv screen? similar idea to regular rips 700(ish)mb for something which will still appear dvd qualityish on a 28inch tv and obviously lower quality for smaller files? Haz
This is pretty much what I have been waiting for.At the start of summer, my iPod Mini's battery gave up, not bad considering it was first gen, bought from new, almost 3 years use.Was hoping for a 16Gb Nano, but they now have the touch, which is OK, because the normal iPod is a damn good price in comparison, so I'll get that.Should be here early next week. Haz
Which just makes it and 'i'.But I guess you can choose, either 16Gb, or a phone, they are now the same price in the US.

Dan Clark
Cos making a hand held product you keep in your pocket touch screen is a great idea.As if the ipod videos weren't bad enough for scratching.

Tomm
That touch thing looks like an awesome toy but it certainly actually be that useful to me. However, the 80Gb iPod 'classic' at £159 is a real bargain. It's got an anodised alu front now instead of plastic, too.
Egg Fried Rice
Im gonna get myself the nano.Just like the old video one (it now has video wooo)really but smaller and the price is immense.JK

Boswell
Anyone no why the Iphone has'nt come out in the UK? I had a little go in america when i went they are sweet.
Dan Clark
Because currently Apple are contracted to only provide phones for the AT&T network in America, where there is no UK equivalent. When it comes out on Verizon (O2) next year we'll get it. Dai the Socket
Haha I'm not sure if people read stuff about that teenager unlocking the iPhone so that it could be used with T-Mobile?Well until that happens I'm not buying jack shit. I do however like the price drops, like Tomm said a 80gb iPod 'classic' for that price is incredible compared to previous prices!I'm tempted to buy an iPod touch (16gb) once people have made some more apps for it. I'd quite like to have a mail client on it, and I've read rumors of having Skype on it?16gb isn't too bad in my opinion but a lot of people were complaining about the small memory. I guess that if you think a high quality DVD rip can be put into around a gig for an iPhone, it's not all that bad when you think about it. I think it's because flash memory is so expensive but also because of their pricing strategy. Wait for 3 months and they'll be cheap as chips and we'll have loads of new features from another products, no doubt!Anyway, good news if you ask me, one more step towards Apple gaining world domination in the music player and PDA market haha. JonMack
I'm down with the 160GB iPod Classic, especially for £230 Edited September 6, 2007 by MonsterJ
Tomm
Anyway, good news if you ask me, one more step towards Apple gaining world domination in the music player and PDA market haha. That's not a PDA though... If Apple did release a PDA, I'd probably buy it in a snap. But their iPhone and iTouch things are not the answer, since they don't run other applications really (yet). The iTouch looks lovely, but 16GB really isn't enough for my music, let alone any videos. If you've got a device like that you need to be able to put everything on it.The iPhones are apparently coming out in the UK in December on three networks, can't remember which ones. Might be Orange, O2 and Vodaphone? The reason they were only released in the US is just because of supply problems - they didn't want it to be out of stock everywhere I guess. Dai the Socket
No but what I'm getting at is they've evidently got a super PDA in development haven't they. No doubt they'll be in design or testing now, it's inevitable. They're moving slowly towards it just trying to suck as much money out of the markets as they can, when the market gets saturated and everyone's got iPods, sales start to slow at current price levels they re-price the lower stuff, bring out now super-cool stuff which is expensive and then here we go again, more money for Apple! As far as I'm aware, this site which I found quickly, starts to list some third party applications which users can download over wifi and then obviously install. The iPhone and iPod touch OS and framework is near identical some geeks say, so it's going to be pretty easy to run a lot of the stuff you can on an iPhone, on the iPod touch. Apart from the obvious differences between the iPhone and iPod Touch - voice calling, phone address book, texting. You're missing Google Maps and Mail which I'd say are pretty good applications to have. Obviously you're not going to be using Google Maps all that easily 'cos you'd want it while you're driving down a road, not having to sit in a Cafe to find stuff but it'd still be good to have. Not having mail is what's actually really pissing me off.I think I might just put my money in an ISA until nearer Christmas and then buy the latest stuff then, once loads more Apps are out for the iPhone and it's been really really hacked so it'll run anything.I've got admit though, the drops in prices for the iPod Classics are really good but I won't use 160gb even if I tried! Dan Clark
But if you want all those features just buy a PDA?After all it is an mp3 player, for playing mp3s, not checking gmail accounts, browsing the internet and checking google maps.PDA's are for all that. My Windows phone does everything the iPhone does really, and it also has GPS and can run Tomtom/memory map, as well as all my Windows mobile apps etc. Until the iPhone can do that I'm not really interested. I don't think I would ever use 160Gb either, but 80 would be nice
Dan Clark
Plus the iPhone isn't 3G, can't send MMS, can't set Mp3's as ringtones, can't record video, can't record voice and doesnt have voice dialing.
Haz
can't set Mp3's as ringtonesYou can now, the difference is you have to buy it from the iTunes store, then you have to cut a 30 second segment out of it, which costs an extra 79p, on top of the song you just bought. So in the end you will be paying £1.50 for the privilidge. Way to go apple.
