Ingram
hey, i have a amd 3500+, 2gb ram, asus a8n sli deluxe motherboard and a radeon x1800xt graphics card, i just put 1gb more of ram in my computer and changed my card from my old asus a800xl, when i play games like insurgency (hl mod) i only get about 10 fps more than i did with my old card. I have another x1800xt but i need to get a crossfire motherboard before i can run both, i was wondering if my cpu would be slowing down my computer especially when i put my other card in to run crossfire. Thanks in advance.
Token
You got the latest drivers for the x1800xt?If your pretty sure your gfx card is setup properly, give overclocking ago on the cpu, crank up the FSB which inturn will overclock your memory aswell. Providing you dont overclock it alot, say 20mhz FSB increase max then the chances of any problems are negligible.I'm not sure what sort of graphics engine insurgency uses, whether it be high pixel/vertex counts or alot of physics processing. Also bear in mind that even though the x1800xt is a very fast card, the a800xl is no snail!
Ingram
sorry forgot to mention i am using a 22" wide screen monitor with the resolution of 1600/1050 i think it was?
Token
What resolution do you run the game at, with what settings? And what is the average FPS that your getting ingame?
Krisboats
The processor may slow it down slightly, but shouldn't be too much. Obviously a faster processor will handle the physics and whatnot better so the graphics card is free to run at its fullest potential, but with a screen that large sticking a game like insurgency on high detail with some AA applied i can imagine the card being the problem more than the cpu. Try overclocking the cpu a bit and if its really holding it back, you'll notice a bit of difference with it.
Ingram
erm resolution is 1680x1050 all the settings are high antialiasing 4x and filtering is on anisotropic 8x.

And where you running at the same level of detail with the old card? I'd imagine you didn't have AA or AF enabled at that resolution and medium to high textures. poopipe
erm resolution is 1680x1050 all the settings are high antialiasing 4x and filtering is on anisotropic 8x. that's your problem, you need 2 high end cards in SLI to run that sort of resolution effectively. Turn them both down - if that doesn't sort it start reducing texture detail.
