Billy
Righto, I've got some Heatsink Reds on my Ta26, and on a DX32. At first, they were beasts, loads of lock and bite and noise. I got a flat yesterday, sorted it and clipped me brakes back on, and now theyre absolutely shite. Theres no lock or bite or noise, and I cannot, no matter what I do, get one of the pads to hit square. What could I be doing wrong? Its really frustrating, cos this is the first and probably last night I'm gonna get to ride for the next couple of weeks. Should I grind a bit of the pad off to make it square? Is there any decent tutorials for setting a v brake up for trials use? I really don't know whats going on!
Ash-Kennard
you sure your wheel is in straight?
CurtisRider
probably got some skank on the rim, give the rim and pads a good washalso when setting up the pads/arms....the arms need to be parallel when the brake is on, so set up the spacers accordinglyto set up the pads, undo the nuts, line the pads up and pull the brake, keep it pulled, tighten the nuts and let go of the lever, they will hit straight then
Joe Sheehan!
best way i found was to set the cable adjuster on the lever about 4 threads out, do the brake cable up so its locking the wheel (pads touching the rim and making sure its all square) and then screw the adjuster in. cable should pull a minimal amount and give great lock. I tried undoing the nuts - setting the pads square - pulling lever/tightening, but that did no good. I'll give that a go

_Owen.
Id reccomend taking your wheel back out, and whiping it down with white spirit. If thats no good give your pads a good clean and make sure everything is working propperly(ie the pads hitting the rim in the right position) if all that doesnt work, try going to your lbc and see what they can do for you! Fixed Pantsâ„¢
It's now buggered up because they're no longer bedded in, they're most probably not hitting the rim like they used to.Set them up as best you can and then ride, keep riding until they get good and don't do anything with them.EDIT: Thought so, i kinda forgot you said you only just unclipped the bit that pulls them together, but still, your wheel might have moved and things aren't what they used to be like, so keep riding and they will be back to normal soon. Hopefully. Edited September 6, 2007 by Fat Pants

AdamR28
White spirit = no, it's basically oil...Pop down before 12 tomorrow if you can, if I don't have time to do it I should at least be able to give some pointers Ads

Its just the one side that will not hit properly, no matter what.
AdamR28
Sounds like the same problem as before... cant really do much due to the rim being a bit wide for the frame Other than take meat off the pads...
Billy
Sounds like the same problem as before... cant really do much due to the rim being a bit wide for the frame Other than take meat off the pads...Thats the thing though, theres plenty of room for them now, cos I already took loads off the pads. But one of them just won't hit the rim right. They worked fine before I took my wheel out.

NVWOCI WVS
the vee mount on the frame might be bent, i did that before and i couldnt get the pad to hit square then. check that!
