Which 8cm / 3.5inch Coaxial Speakers?

Im looking for some 8cm coaxial speakers to go in my Golf Mk2. Ive currently got a sub and 6x9s in the back, so the front speakers are only going to be used for high end sound (as im going to be limiting their frequency range using a capacitor anyway). Im just a bit stuck with what brand to go for, Ive been recommended to use JL speakers by my local ICE store but I dont know if thats just because thats what they stock. Also, Ive seen a set made by VB (http://www.icebuyer.co.uk/vb-32-p-11617.html) and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them? Any help would be great.

Cheers, Mike.

jl make really good speakers, i have a 12inch jl sub in my boot and it sounds great :) (not to be confused with jbl, who make decent enough budget stuff)

if you want quality sound, also try alpine, apart from my sub and its amp, everything else i use is alpine (front comps+amp, headunit and soon to have alpine rear comps and cd changer)

personally i wouldn't bother putting new speakers in the dash as anything that small wont really be worth the hassle, have a hunt around and find some door pods, i found some for my mates mk2 for a tenner and it now means he can use 6 inch comps which will sound one heck of alot better. i believe the ones we got were off one of the last mk2s, i think it was a gl so will be fine in your gti :)

Im tempted by the door pod idea now. Ive had a look around and everywhere seems to sell hand made ones which are about 200 quid, which is totally out the question. Does anyone know anywhere which makes prefabricated ones? I assume they just replace the pockets which are already, so you just unscrew the old ones and screw in the new pods, then run the wiring through to them?

Cheers, Mike.

they are only good if you wanna run rather large speakers, of course you could easily make your own...they go secondhand on ebay for about 50quid too

anyway, just ring some scrappies, im pretty sure my local one has some door pods in a recent golf they got in if you want me to ask? (solebay scrapyard in southwold)
