matt rushton
Depends what the frame is really steel or alloy. And if it's only a cheap frame it probaley wouldn't be worth it. Matt Rushton
Simpson
You can get kits that you can braize onto a steal frames... but to be honest i would say its not worth the effort.. evo mounts do the job fine but if you really wanna get propper 4 bolt mounts its a hell of a lot easier just to get a new frame! but yea it can be done... but costs money and a lot of time! johnglazer
As much as I hate the evo mounts, I think you would be better off using them. I'm not sure if anyone else makes V to HS-33 adapters. You will lose frame strength when you cut out the V mount. (some will be gained back when you weld on the HS33 mounts)You will ruin the heat treatment in that area when you weld on the HS33 mounts. Tony Harrison
It'd be more hassle than it's worth. Properly set up Evo mounts work fine anyway...
basher
Just get a decent vee brake set up such as some decent arms like avid sd5/sd7 and same lever with some heatsink pads and the brake will rival a magura. But if you really want to run a maggie then to have maggie mounts on, if its a alloy frame you will have to have them welded on and then have the frame heat treated so the frame doesnt crack which won't be cheap. And i dont think its actually thats easy to find the 4bolt mounts either as most shop sell steel ones i believe. If you have a steel frame then it can be doen easily its just a case of having them welded on.
mods
Just use a really stiff booster and make sure it's all bled properly. Then you brake will be fine.
