JT!
Amongst other things, when i type, it's really jumpy, i can be holding backspace down and it wont do anything and then it takes out a whole sentence. It's jumpy when i type in places like this form, and even in notepad!Anyway, i've tried a ad-ware scan and a virus scan, is there anything else i can do about it? Billy
I dunno if it'll fix your problem but I defragmented my hard drive and did a disk clean up, and my computer ran a lot faster. Could give that a go?

Krisboats
I take it you've checked the keyboards plugged in properly?Try another keyboard from somewhere and you will find out if its the keyboard or not. If its not, i'd imagine there may be something wrong with the port your connecting the keyboard too, or you have smoe kind of spyware/keylogger thats slowing it all up a bit. Hendrix
My laptop is exactly the same, exept I can't run videos smoothly at all.Any idea how to solve that O_O ?Sorry, not meaning to hyjack your thread

Also try running memtest to see if your RAM is still functioning alright.Maybe back everything up and re-install windows?
JT!
I would reformat but i've recently done it and just got everything back to how it was.I'll try defr.... whatever it's called tonight. How do you do a memory test?
poopipe
download a thing called memtest (google it) burn it to a CD, boot off the CD, let it run and it'll tell you whether your memory's f**ked or not
Jonny Jones
All the jittering whilst typing is the reason I got fed up with my old PC (Dad now uses it for work) - when its doing all this stuff, does your hard drive sound like its having a complete fit? Like really loud like its trying to access loads of stuff even though you're not actually doing an aweful lot? I dunno, like people have said, defrag, memory test. All this rubbish is why I went for a Mac - altho u still have to defrag the hdd, OSX doesn't do that all on its own haha!
Greetings
I'd check what the CPU and memory usage is while you're encountering these difficulties. What OS are you running?
Nick Garland
Is it wireless??If so, I know this will sound weird but, take outt the batteries, leave for 20 secs, unplug the reciever from your pc, change the USB port it is plugged into, put the batteries back in, press the connect button (if you have one) and it should work. This happened to mine, I have a Logitech LX710, not sure if its related to this keyboard or all logitechs, it has happened under Vista X64 and XP SP2. JT!
when its doing all this stuff, does your hard drive sound like its having a complete fit?Yeah it kind ticks every couple of seconds. That's when it freezes.I'd check what the CPU and memory usage is while you're encountering these difficulties. What OS are you running?I don't know how to do that, or what to look for.XP. It does it on a few games and such.
Nick Garland
Try it anyway, might just be a driver problem which resolves itself when you unplug it and plug it back in, whether its wireless or not.
Reece B
dying hard drive...sounds to be the cause.get your stuff backed up quick and get a new hard drive..
Krisboats
Yeah it kind ticks every couple of seconds. That's when it freezes.I don't know how to do that, or what to look for.Sounds like your hard drive could be on its way out or is rather full and the page file system is struggling to keep the information flowing.Ctrl+Alt+Del and look in the performance tab. Cpu/Page file usage should be shown on a graph which you'll be able to see any spikes in the computers usage. See if the jitters conincide with spikes on the graphs. Also try clicking start>run>type "msconfig" (without brackets) and on the startup tab de-select everything then restart the computer. If the jitters stop happening try enabling one thing at a time on that list and restarting... its long and slow but eventually you'll find the one causing the problem. Krisboats
I tried that and the graph spiked whenever the typing freezes.I'll try the msconfig thing too.Okay, that would suggest its a software problem then. If the graph spikes everytime it stutters then something is momentarily Taking up all the resources on the computer, this could be a virus, spyware or a corrupted driver.Try the msconfig thing first (don't have it connected to the internet while you do it, your firewall will be off ) and if that doesn't sort it try starting windows in safe mode (restart the pc and keep pressing F8, then when it (slowly) gets into windows, do a virus scan and run spybot search and destroy or adaware.Hopefully something from all of that should sort it. JT!
I did the msconfig and took everything off and restarted, and it still did it.I'll do the safemode thing now.Edit: Runs perfect in safemod. MadManMike
Hey JT, I had the same problem on a laptop a while back, clean install and everything, but every couple of seconds the mouse would freeze, text would go jittery and games paused etc...Unfortunately I never got to the bottom of it, could be faulty RAM or Hard Drive maybe? As fas as I know it's not software, or at least mine wasn't because it was formatted twice! poopipe
I'd start removing hardware till the problem goes away to be honest - obvious culprits like USB stuff or wireless things at first (anything that's a bit weird) and then move onto stuff like soundcards if that doesn't sort it
