Tommy d
Just looking at my options at the moment and thinking the TA26 would be a cheap frame around the length I like, should I need one.The main thing I need to know is about strength. I've heard they may not be the strongest frames on the planet.I also want to know where it is that they break (if they do). So far 4 out of my 4 trials frames to date have all gone in the same place, on the chainstay just behind the BB. Do Bases ever crack/snap here? If they do, there might not be much point in me buying one! Thanks
CurtisRider
they go at the seatstay-seatube weld on the right it seems, running a seatpost tends to make them last longer though :)for 100quid you cant really grumble! awesome frames, infact i may be buying my old base back soon
Tommy d
Cool, yeah I forgot to say I would be running a seat post.
Billy
I'm riding a Base at the moment, and I love it. I don't remember ever hearing of one breaking, except when ridden with out a seat/post. Get one!
Endohopper
Gonna have to leap to Base's defence here , and agree with Pauloliver ( as usual ) in this being well priced for what you get . I believe the first generation were prone to failure at the seatstay / seattube weld , but only if ridden without a saddle . The newer versions as depicted on Tartybikes seem to be redesigned , with an ovalised toptube replacing what was an octagonal toptube like mine ( 2005 ) has . My first one developed a fracture at this junction , and was promptly replaced by Bikedock , by the one I've now been riding for well over 2 years . At this price you can't go wrong , just discard the supplied bashplate , and you're left with a reasonably light bike that's obedient on the back wheel and spins well . Mine ( link in sig ) only needed a spray 'cause of some scratching . Get one , let us know how you get on .
Tommy d
Cheers for the advice guys, hopefully I'm not going to need one if I can get my current frame repaired (steel) but it's good to know.Just out of interest do you know much about the warranty? Would it be invalidated if I took off the bash plate? Is it one year? Thanks
toyota200x
I have always thought these bikes look super clean and nice. What length do they come to? Does anyone have vids of people riding them?

Tommy d
The Tartybikes description says 1025 but yeah pretty much. Here's a video of one:http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....hl=elliot+firth
Endohopper
Would it be invalidated if I took off the bash plate?Nope , no problem there unless you somehow damage the bottom bracket shell . As for a video of one being ridden ...I intend to finally get some footage of my soopa doopa awesome trials style goin' down . So yeah , some sloppy uninspired hopping will be released soon . Reece B
can you run sus forks on the frame? and use it for street/dirt style of riding?
Billy
can you run sus forks on the frame? and use it for street/dirt style of riding?I've seen loads of people round here running suspension forks on them. Then again, they were all chavvy scums, so make of that what you will, haha.
hill_393
I was lucky enough to ride for Base many moons ago, and I found them one of the most enjoyable ride's I've ever had! (Apart from Spode!).For the money you pay, you get a well built frame that's great for starting out on, strong light and flickable, suitable for street and natural. In 2 years, I went through 2, and I loved every minute of them.Darren
