Dan6061
Just serviced my BB7, as I knew it could feel a lot better with my current set up.Got it all apart fine, following the overhaul guide on the Sram/Avid website. To my suprise, I only had 1/3 ball bearings in it!I found some others that are a little bit smaller than the standard ones, and they seem to work ok. It feels a lot smoother anyway.Got it all back together, only problem is the red dial wont stay on?I've tried just pressing it on, but it's not having any of it.Help. Greetings
Haha i'd also like to know the answer to this serviced mine 2 weeks ago, and ever since it keeps falling off...One thing that will make it stay on for longer is to bend the metal clips on the outside of the knob with some pliers but that still doesn't solve the problem.I've got 2 balls inside the bearing Also, after I pulled it apart, the brake no longer "clicks" when you turn the outer pad knob. The knob also unscrews every now and then...edit: i don't know why, but i've re-assembled the brake using the manual, and now i can't take the dial off without using a screwdriver Maybe you should have a look at how you arranged those two spacers, maybe you put the funny one upside down? I think it keeps the dial on which is why the sharp edge should be facing downwards. Edited August 26, 2007 by Inur
joshywa
it might be the last 2 washer you put on before the lock nut, check against the manual but i put them on in the wrong order and the red dial wouldnt stay on, checked on my rear one and found it the other way round
