_Owen.
Hi there, recently i brought a rear hope mono trial for the rear of my monty, and i really havent got along with it! I have about eight spacers on the frame mounts to get the caliper in the right position and its still slightly out. Oh yeah and the most recent problem i have had with it is rotor warp, everytime i do a tap the rotor warps so bad i can bairly spin the wheel round. So after these and many more problems i think it is time to get rid of the brake and was wandering if an avid bb7 has enough power and hold to go on the rear? If anyone has used one or has one on thier bike i would like to hear how they have got along with it as i know they are really easy to set up. Any help would be greatly appreciatedThanks, Owen
dangerous_dave
Well, there are many threads about this if you would care to use the search, but generally people's opinions vary, some say that you actually get more bite out of the bb7, I wouldn't know, I don't have one. But I have a mono trial on the front and couldn't be more happy with it.

NileBrown™
Also I would just like to say that you should keep with your rear hope as I've heard several reports of bb7s on the rear 'blowing up' .Also when used, over heating too quickly is an issue so I would say keep with the hopes and just give them a good setup and they should work lush. spode@thinkbikes
I've used the 06 and 07 rear Hopes and love them to bits. I find your warping problem a little crazy - it sound like you're not setting it up correctly, perhaps due to a sticky piston (not uncommon). As far as the BB7, they really do have an amazing amount of bite - although I've also ridden a few poorly set up ones that aren't that great. But personally I prefer a little modulation (hence the Hope), and it's a little easier on the fingers not having to yank a cable. I can't really comment on the longevity of the BB7 as I've never owned one. However, my point is, the Hope should be fine - instead of giving up on it, perhaps get some help setting it up. Failing that, I've got a brand new 06 Hope here if you want one cheap
Ashley-Wood
Well i would rather use an avid bb7 on the back as i feel there is more bite! And will not let you down as the hope has a bit less bite!I have a hope mono trials on the front and i think it is perfect as it has what i just need to do tyre swaps without actually going over the bars! But definitely an avid bb7 on the back with a big rotor!Hope i have helped
Dave Anscombe
The bb7 on the rear end will be pretty sick.rich pearson uses a bb7 on the rear of his lesson and he swears by it .he does go rather large to and brake slips are never a problem.speak to rich im shure he can give you more info than i can and yes they are easy as pie to set up zero modulation but who needs iton the rear...... hope you find mypost helpfull..davex
Mr.trial_dude
Hello,A BB7 on the rear sometimes makes a 'cliking' sound, i find this very annoying to hear. They seem to be very powerfull, and you can't contaminate them. But i do like the feel of a hydro more than a cable, and it looks more pimp I would go for the Tarty hope trial.Stvn . _Owen.
Thanks alot for all your helps guys, really appreciated. I think i have sorted the brake out as it seemed fine on the ride i just got back from. I am still considering the bb7 though i just want a little bit more bit than my mono trials Also the tarty brake is quite pricey, and it wont feel any different to my mono trials at the moment will it? i thought the only upgrades were the snazzy colour, carbon leaver blade and the pimpish bolts?? correct me if im wrong there. Thanks again for all your help guys

Balman
friends bb7 on the rear really sucked it didnt hold at all unless he applyed water so id recomend getin a new rotor as the new one's with the same rotors as the bb5 don't hold well at all on the rear how ever his front was mint im just basing it on his troubles i cant go by that for every bb7 as it could have been just a one off how ever it was brand new and set up correctly.Jack
