modman
hey guys and girls,I've become fed up with my magura on my mod, it sucks. so i want rid of it. anyways just saw recently that one of the new ZHI bike has vee brakes on it and it clicked!! so yeah i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get hold of those vee adapters on that ZHI bike i'll find a pic actually.aha here it is!!so yeah anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated.thanks, jake
Walleee
If they are available at all, NSE/trialsman will have them, prob best to phone them.Otherwise onza do a set (again not sure if they are sold seperately), and heatsink too.... modman
yeah i knew heatsink make them and stuff, but i wasn't sure wether they'd be alright on a mod, hence i wouldnt mind getting the ZHI ones as i know they'd be fine. i might try and give them but if anyone else has anymore info on mod converting to vee's then that'd be well helpful too. Walleee
yeh after I posted I thought if that was what you were worried about. They should all be the same because regardless of wether you run a 26" rim or a 20" rim the four bolt's are mounted with the hole's either side of the rim, if you get me, so that when you put your magura caliper in between the two holes, the cylinder/pad line's up with your rim...... modman
yeah very true..But was also thinking wether they'd be anough clearance for the tyre as a mods tyre are HENCH!!! lol i wonder if anyone else has done this before? modman
well i've just had a look round all the availible website for ZHI and couldnt find nothing on those adapters, grrrr!! always the way lol.
Walleee
I doub't clearance is an issue as you can space v pad's out a fair good bit so the arm is mile's from the tyre, i'd be more worried about catching my foot on it....
modman
wasn't so much the width, i was more concerned with the depth of the tyre being too big. i've PM'd NSE on TF and ask about them, hopefully he can enlighten me.
modman
ok can't get hold of those for another month. but has anyone else used the heatsink or onza ones on a mod by any chance?
basher
Heatsinks will work on a mod, why wouldnt they. And onza adaptors arnt sold seperately and arnt as strong as heatsink.
that NBR dude
The Heatsink 4Bolt-Vee Brake adaptors have 3 levels of adjustment, so you can match them to any frame width or pad size, so you can always get the best set-up. I know plenty of people who run them and are very happy with them. click here for more information
modman
Hmmmmm this seems like a plan, now just gotta find some 2nd hand if anyone has any? i may post a wanted topic in classifieds too.
Felix
I don't want to ruin your hopes, but in most cases homemade adapters will be the only choice if you want to use Vees on a mod.Heatsink, Zhi or Bonz adapters move the brake mount closer to the axle and thus decreases the vertical clearance. This causes big mod rear tires to run on the cable. Ideally the mount should be located at the bottom hole of the 4-bolt mounts.
modman
I knew that'd be the case anyway, thats why i posted a topic about it, but i know the ZHI ones fit as theres a picture of them fitted to a mod.
Smallville
Try these http://zhibikes.com.ua/adapters.html they should be great dealing with, just give them a mail and they help you out on english. Or these site http://www.biketrial.co.nz/_sgg/m3_1.htm . Or this one, I have ordered from these guys one time and they are god http://www.zhibike.cz/E_katalog.htm

Zordon
but then you would just have the same problem with stock in theroy as people use 2.5 tyres on stock aswell just like mod so really there shouldnt be a problem. You cannot compare it like this. 2,5 on mod is much bigger than 2,5 on stock.I'm using mielec vee adaptors on Gu 06 frame with Avid Ultimate calipers and half worn Try-All stiky tyre on 48mm rim and unstretched chain. Vertical clearance is fine, should be enough for a new Stiky tyre with full tread, not sure about bigger tyres like maxxis or monty 2,7 though. I removed the adjusting washers from the inner sides of the brake pads (coustvees, quite thin backings, comparing to plazmatic ones) and put one or two regular 1mm ones so the pads contact the rim flat and I don't rub the brake arms with my legs. Is it just one long M5 bolt through the adapter and the brake? Maybe something more clever?
ben_travis
Hello ladies....Well to shut people who dont know what they are sayin in this topic up, here is my 2 pence.I have had my heatsink v-brake adapters on both my stock and my mod, work fine, no clearance issues i can see as yet.I have a CZAR stock and CZAR mod with the v-brakes on the rear. there are 3 bolt holes on the bottom of the adapters so that these can be 'adapted' to fit all sorts of frame.Im not even going to start on how well made they are....but i would recommend themcheersben
modman
ahh brilliant, thanks for the advice ben, much needed and valued greatly. i shall now be selling my maggie setup and getting onto order my new setup as soon as payday arrives.cheers again.jake
eskimo
The zhi ones look exactly the same as the heatsink ones. And as for the adapters i had no problems with them either. But damn that bike looks really really nice.
