some f**king painful bails in there but if these guys are willing to try these things, they know theres consequences.

i do respect them though - also.. that guy that dropped over 40ft, he was sooo lucky!

wonder how many bones he broke, i bet more than 3 easy!

nasty stuff

EDIT -

- i know it aint trials but that is just sick  Edited by 531joshua

You always see skateboarders falling off, but unless they're pro you never see them land anything.

:helmet:

Thats just stupid..

Just because you've seen alot of bad skateboarders or bail video's doesn't mean that they fall all the time

If some stranger new to trials saw some crappy chav riding a t-bird falling of the whole time, he would also think that trialsrider ssuck and never land anything.

Skateboarding is a very nice sport imo, and deserves just as much respect as trials for pushing themselves while there is a high change of getting injured

Stupid eh?

Skateboarders round here... like most places, ride their boards around and 9 times out of ten at trying a trick like a heelflip just mess it up and land on the floor.... in fact its probably closer to 19 times out of 20. They just jump off things with the board and bail mid air, without really comitting to it. These aren't chavs on boards, these are little emo skater dudes.

Now turn up to a ride and whilst people might push themselves on something like a new big gap they've never done, 9 times out of 10 they can actually pull something off without jumping off the bike, and they can usually link moves together in a line.... something that is VERY rarely seen with casual street riding skaters.

The ones where they roll their ankles' are the worst, for me, by far  . Just because that's the most likely to happen to me as my ankles are already f**ked!

But all of those bails are dread as f**k! No doubt BMX and Skateboarding is more extreme than trials, purely, because the speed they go at makes the risk factor like stupidly high...

I'll stick with trials thanks, haha (Y) .

Cheers,

Joe.

Ive seen equally bad crashes/falls from trials...potentially severe injury and life threatening stacks. still dumbfounded by Darren Hill stack! most common board crashes are falling on your back, arse, and the classic ANKLEBUSTER. :o stacks, injury, and pain is part parcel of anying sporting discipline. so if you cant hack the inevitable you shouldnt be doing any beyond your comfort level but sometimes even that goes against you as it did will Darren.

That guy didn't "get a brain hemmorage", although judging from the "this geezer thinks he's mat hof.fman" write up the person who reposted that video on Youtube is probably thicker than shit anyway. Just lost a couple of teeth from what I can remember.

I don't skate purely because I couldn't handle the scene or the learning curve. Plus I use my BMX to actually get around, plus not being stopped in your tracks by anything larger than a pebble means there's about a thousand more things to ride.

totally agree, it pisses me off and also what onzaboymark said 'Plus I use my BMX to actually get around, plus not being stopped in your tracks by anything larger than a pebble'

and because they don't like to wear helmets ^_^

Bmx and skateboarding are extremely dangerous sports, but thats only because the rider's make it that dangerous by not wearing their helmet.

Yes they are moving at a faster speed than most trials riders, though there are alot of street riders than ride at speed i.e bunnyhopping gaps. But, even comp rider's have a high risk factor, slippy rocks, loosing your balance (like the bmxers and skateboarders) putting your foot down dodgy.

You don't need to be going at speed for something to be a high risk factor, think if your doing a gap, your chain could snap which could have a really bad outcome, you could be walking down the street and trip over a crack in the path and break your leg, your not even going fast but it has a bad outcome.

Too be fair, the only sport that i believe has the most injuries is skateboarding. How many amature and pro bmxers do you see bail and bail badly? It's the same for trials riders, you dont see it very often.

I dont mind skateboarder's providing they can skate and keep hold of their board the majority of time, I have respect for them. It's the ones that constantly loose their boards and get in the way of everyone else tht i hate.

If you think top BMXers don't bail that hard, you need to check the BMX news sites a bit more often :P Stephen Murray's still on a ventilator and might never walk again having broken his neck doing a double flip-gone-wrong, Morgan Wade's got an injury list as long as my arm, Gary Young's just back riding after fracturing his skull and almost dying from something like a blood clot on his brain, Chase Hawk's riding again after a broken wrist (slightly lesser I guess...), Dave Mirra lost the top part of his liver in last year's X-Games Park comp... I think it's more that BMXers don't complain about stuff as much? I know people I ride with on the regular who are riding with severely f**ked knee ligaments and stuff like that, which if - say - they were a footballer, they'd be out 'til the next year or something. It's just how it goes.

Skaters do seem to take the hits though, but it seems to normally just be ankle issues, 'cos that's what tends to take the hits. Those falls in the video looked bad, but most of them probably weren't really hurt seriously at all after them, just because your body can kinda take stuff like that. It's just tearing ankle ligaments from landing flips on the side of the board or something that really does you, 'cos they're never quite the same again, and in that you're likely to have the same type of mess-up again, it's just going to keep on reoccuring.
