The BB7 is a bit of a weird brake - it's super grabby which is great for trials but not amazing for XC. Also since it undercuts the cost of their Hydro brakes considerably, they don't want to make it much better...Also regarding the CRC comments - I think the people at CRC ask themselves questions on some things.
