Give Me Some New Tricks To Do!

Well. I'm fed up of just Endo'ing, Wheeling. Dropping off. Jumping. and attempting to side hop.

What is there out there to do, that's easy, ish, to do ?

I'm on a 26" now btw - so being light, and easy to chuck about is currently a dream for me !

So come on, I need some more tricks to do! :D

As I said.... it's very heavy. So gapping is almost impossible til I get some more mussle.

Plus the back wheel can't be bounced on because I haven't got my new tires through (N)

Gonna try the bunny hop - I've never been able to do it without coming off ^_^

bunnyhopping uses the same force on the tyres as backhopping, and im pretty certain your tyres wont be a problem. people used to do this stuff on xc bikes, you'll be fine just takes practise.

Bunny Hopping is getting there. Bouncing on the back wheel has made my spare wheel collapse ? I didn't even do it much....

I can't manual.... for some reason. I try and I try, but nothing <_<

180's are on the way....

and I'm trying x-ups.... but I can't seem to get the right angle

Fear not my friend for the world is your oyster.

If you're after easy spins, try the ones where you pivot on the front wheel, then the back, or whichever wheel is near something. Opens up loads of stuff for you to do, any gap that's bridgeable is asking to be spun over. It's well easy if you pump up your back tyre good and hard. I tend to do them cos I haven't got the hang of bmx-style ones where you just fly in circles.

I think that's all part of the process. If you keep doing that for a bit every time you ride, in a year or two it will work! Well it's taken me that long to get half way there anyway...

In general I would just say try and come up with new ways to ride on the stuff you're used to. No matter how many moves you've figured out on one object at your local spot, there are more! Also, once you can do a line, see if you can do it without braking or pedalling. Tends not to work if backwheeling rails is involved but its a good game!

And watch videos of people you think are inventive, and relentlessly nick their moves and ideas.

Check out the video's on www.thinkbikes.com

The key to progressing is to vary your riding style. Before I broke my leg, my riding style was changing towards flatland riding. I was trying decades, fot jam tailwips, bar spins on the rear wheels. etc.

I am suggesting ThinkBikes, as I feel they are a benchmark figure for developing riding styles and disciplines.

I found a great way to develop was to ( And this method I'm suggesting I used to do all the time with Dave of Thinkbikes) have a stack of pallets or a picnic bench and try and think of as many different ways as possible to get up down, across, over, under it. Set yourself a challenge of 15 ways to get over a bench, with no one method being the same as the other.

Another way I found is to get in the skatepark or rocks. As previously mentioned, park and rocks provide you infinite possibilities, and sometime the influences of BMX riders can steer your riding in a particular way, as mine did.

Enter competitions. They are a great way of honing all your skills, and you will be around so many riders who will help and develop you.

Hope that helps

Darren

get a kicker and some pallents, put a little gap between them, and try this...

off the kicker to tabletop, land front on the first pallent, 360 gap across to the second, front flip across to the third, and ride away chuffed

(first childish awnser :))

any way, seriously, try tomanual, 180 bunnyhop, 180 endo to 180 bunnyhop out... add flare to it boyyy :)
