Sony Ericsson P1i

haven't tried that one specifically but the p910i was an excellent phone and the p990i was apparently better (i had a quick fiddle but not enough to say for certain)

I'd be pretty confident that it's a f**king badass machine.

alternatively

you might want to look at the orange spv m700 if you're wanting that sort of thing (you can get it on other networks but it'll have a different name) - I'm getting one in a week or two, it does all the same sort of things but has office and an integrated GPS doohickey so you don't get lost.

The sony has a better camera and stuff though so I'd go for that if you could get it on orange

I second that - mine's ace. Got Tomtom and Memory map - both work flawlessly. On its own, though, the phone can't actually do anything with the GPS - you need software.

Windows phones are probably the way forward - there's just so much software available. If you get a Sony one I don't think you'll be able to run half as much stuff.

[When you get it, you NEED the Phonepad hack (makes a normal phone-like keyboard for texting so you don't need to use the stylus) - It's on the forum somewhere, or PM me.]

When i set up the email on the phone..when i get a new mail, will it pop up like a text..or will i have to keep checking the emil part of the phone regularly?

It should pop up if you're using 'push' email and have GPRS connected all the time.
