Rite then, to connect to xbox live i needed to be wireless becuase its just not practical to drag a huge cable from downstairs to up so i eventually took the plung and forked out for an offical adapter which i expect to be relatively easy to setup.......oh how wrong i was, for some reason it detects the wireless network in my house and as far as i can tell i have entered all the correct settings but as i come to test the connection it fails to connect to the wireless network everytime. At this point i dont think its anything to do with the internet so ip settings etc wouldnt have any effect its just a case of getting the xbox to speak to the network so basicly i was wondering if anyone has had the same problem or has any ideas why this might be happening? Also i have cordless phones in my house and i was wondering if this might be having any effect on it

i dont think haveing cordless phones would affect it. try taking the adapter out and putting it back in again, do the same with the router and then try connecting again. or unplug the phones just for a while. im useing the cable it came with but my mate is using the adapter and it didnt work the first time so he took it out and put it back in and the next time he tried it worked
