What the f**k. I'm not, not buying tyres for the fun of it, i'm not buying because i can't afford them at the moment, what on earth makes them think fining people that much will help, if i can't afford 35 quid a tyre how will i afford 2500.

Police are so so so silly.

Nice to see you got in at the lower end of the punishment then. :)

can i just ask why you spend thousands on suspension and then 35 quid per tyre?

35 quid is actually the best tyre, Goodyear F1's.

S'all good though, my tyres are nearly at legal limit but they'll be replaced with new suspension so it all ties together, but yeh, 35 quid is what their priced at, guess its cause its a standard 15 inch tyre and not some odd size.

Hold on. Is your car fully taxed and m.o.t'd ? If it's fully taxed and M.o.t'd they can't do shit because your car has passed.

As for 3 points per tyre. Thats total bullshit to be honest.

Also isn't it 12 points until you get banned or are you in your first year of driving ?

Danny.

just because your tyres were ok when it was MOT'd bears no relevance on how they are now? you could have new tyres for a MOT and they be f**ked a week later...

So you're telling me that the best 15 tyre you can get is £35???

Pointless spending so much on power delivery and handling when the contact to the road is toilet. Not saying they're toilet, but surely £35 is nowhere near the top end of tyres, just becase they're 15"??? I know i could go out and spend over £200 per tyre for my subaru with no problem at all. Bit bigger, but the same tyres in other sizes weren't drastically cheaper.

Congrats mike, you lucky minx

Yes.

R888's are 180 a corner for an RX7, and they are arguably the best dry road tyre available, how you spend 200 quid a corner, or could, is madness. :P

Ask anyone about Goodyear F1's, you'll get the same response, and for my size they are 35 a corner.

Whys everyone saying 'A corner?'

its longer then the word tyre, and just sounds generally stupid.

Simon, I can't believe you payed for your coilover setup instead of replacing the tyres, which you blatently know are just legal. That my friend, is stupid.

Lucky stuff Mike :) A lad I work with drove his car without an MOT and got caught, 3 points and a £500 fine. I recon he got off lightly still!!

Yeah but no MOT is different.

Tyres are getting replaced when everything gets aligned, didn't see the point in getting new tyres then in 3 weeks time getting everything re-aligned again.

That makes absolutely no sense! :S

It's not like you're gonna have to get the tyres re-balanced or anything just 'cause you've got new suspension fitted.

Type of car has no relevance on tyre price whatsoever ;)

15" Tyres are silly cheap, even for good ones and Eagle F1's are good. I must admit though, while they had good grip in the dry and wet, I've used tyres that were noticably better in the dry. Granted those tyres weren't as good in the wet, but then I don't push my car to those limits in the wet anyway.

All this stuff about driving with bits that are illegal (tyres, exhausts etc), at the end of the day it's ultimately your decision to drive a car in that condition, just don't complain about the consequenses. My Civic could run with an exhaust that runs at around 120db, and I have been pulled for it before (not at that level as even I can't put up with it), but I don't complain because I decided to have the car like that...

Online review:

I have these tyres on a Subaru Impreza WRX 215/45/17 and I found that car very unstable at the rear under braking or hard cornering due to the amount of flex in the tyre walls. I have since moved onto Pirelli's as I just had no faith in the Goodyears when it came to hard driving!

I actually found the sidewall flex to be better on the F1's than my current Toyo's. In a lot of cases it's down to the person driving, what they can feel through the car (some are more sensitive than others) and whether these feelings inspire confidence or not.

I can feel the Toyo's squirming when cornering hard and because of that they don't feel as precise as the F1's when I was running them, but then this doesn't bother me that much. Someone else might feel differently. As such I take a lot of these reviews with a pinch of salt, they are a good starting point, but at the end of the day it's only your own experiences that will count.

Online review:

About 8/10 of people on the Civic forum recommend F1's, about half of those had Proxies, Prada's and Pirelli's, all said the F1's was better. :)

There may well be better dry weather tyre's out there but in 99% of those cases they are scary in the wet, with winter coming up i wanted a compromise.

More to the point though, why you still got 15" wheels :P
