Magnesium Frames And Bikes

Seeing as they are a magnesium alloy, itll be hard to judge strength by the weight compared to usual components because its not been used before. I'd guess that they will be pretty solid, maybe a bit more brittle than other rims?

Based on theoretical strength to weight ratios of the pure element magnesium and aluminium, a magnesium frame should be actually be around the same weight as an aluminium frame. Alloying obviously makes a difference.

Does anyone know what material the frames are made from?

Still need answers to the above (abuse rating?, tried?, cost? etc...)

Geometry is nice, maybe a tad bit short, but what I appreciate most is the rear brakes within the frame. It may not be easy to set up the pistons but the hoose and cylinders are fully protected (humm, actually, maybe not <_< , they are closer to the eels...)

apparently custom geo is availiable too (Y) how sweet is that

???????? ????????? I'm finding this all a little hard to believe. So you can ask for your own custom frame, So that means they tell the factory that them that customer x would like this geo, The factory then says " yeah, Sure we shall stop production and make this guys own frame. Then we will get back to production" Then the frame then gets flown in from the far east (many many pennys) or it takes 8 weeks to be shipped into the country.

That is customer service that is. ;)

Dont know I could trust magnesium and a frame, spose it depends what alloy is used. Surprised no one has mentioned them denting as mag is usually pretty brittle, i doubt the brake threads would last very well either. I agree with onza that someone would prob have done it before but id like to be prooved wrong as it sounds intresting.

We have done it, When you mix Magnesium into alloy all that you do is make the tubing very thin. Hence the weight difference. We have even worked with Scandium frames, All that happens is that your weld points become thiner.

If these frame comes out and is the same price quoted and they don't break, than hats off. They surely will sell a bucket load.
