b'mouth trials
Hey people, just got an ipod for my car ad its only got a tape player and ive heard you can buy something that lets you tune your ipod into the radio so you dont have to use one of those crappy tapes with a wire coming out of it.Only thing is, i cant find them on the net, anyone know where to get them and how much? Also, are they any good?Cheers, aaron. JonCongreve
I got one in the pound store Only cause you saw mine!! For a quid though , surely it must be pretty sh*t? I've got a £12 from Halfords, and once you get a good frequency tuned in, which is far from other radio stations, then the quality is really good. Sometimes it crackles a bit, but most of the time it's great. Also getting the volume right on you iPod is key Edited August 7, 2007 by JonCongreve
Phatmike
Why not just get a new head unit? Can get one like my sony one for £70ish from Halfords which has a 3.5mm input, so pefect for ipods, laptops etc.
Dr. Nick Riviera
£70 > £1 ?
Dan Clark
I heard the tape adapters were better sound quality than the transmitters anyway. Also check the back of your head unit, if it has RCA inputs you can get cables to plug into those, which would be much better. Joe_Elding
My mum / I use a cassette tape which has a wire coming out the back and plugs into the ipod, works flawlessly and I doubt its expensive...

Was reading the reviews and some people said the ones with the charger and holder are shite?Cheers, AaronI've got one with a charger and holder (random eBay special) and it's pretty rubbish. The holder is OK, but the connection to the fag lighter is really sketchy and if you knock it slightly, it loses power, and you have to turn it on again and retune. Pretty annoying. However, I fixed it by putting a power cable on it - rather than the jack which was part of the iPod holder - this works much better, as it's a lot harder to knock now. Charging the iPod off the car is really useful too.The main problem, though, is that interference changes in different parts of the country. For example if I'm driving around Manchester, I can use a frequency I know that works all the time (88.3 if you're interested). But if I drive anywhere else (E.g. on the motorway), that changes and I need to retune every few minutes - really annoying! A direct jack would be 10 times better. Even those tape adaptor things would be better.
fathopper
Is there a way you can plug the ipod directly into the speakers? So technically cut out the radio from the sound system? and just have an ipod connected to the speakers and being charged by the car?
