Caleb
here i am again, after trying a new meytod and failing im still after getting my leeson rideable, i just need to know what people have in the driveside of their frames, spacer's circlips etc?i just managed to get a v nice 100mm bb sheeled race face bpoottom bracket with two detatchable cups and was going to use it in a similar fashion to that of a vario however the bb threads in the leeson are a differnt size to the standard pitch thread of your usual bb?so pictures, solutions, possible methods would be great.last alternative is to but a turned down un 72 from clive but would rather not now i have this fancy race face one, cheers m'dears
Nick Manning
To be honest, i thnk you'll just have use a un72. When i had a leeson i managed to snap my bb axle, so i went to Clives and he replaced it for me.He took a circlip out of each side and then got a blow torch aand heated the bb shell so he could knock the old bb out, he then slapped plenty of threadlock onto the new bb cup and knocked them into the frame. Job done PS the leeson bb's don't thread into the frame, Clive take the lip of the cups and the thread and knocks them in. So i cant see you using your race face bb, sorry mate. robb_o
This isn't helpful to the post...But WHY are Leeson frames made like this?!
Dan Clark
I originally thought that it gave you much better tyre clearance without sacrificing any strength, as bending the chainstays out to accomodate wider tyres is bad on steel or something.Never owned a Leeson and that was years ago I read about that though. Leesons have straight chainstays, so to get the tyre clearance you need a very wide BB shell.
Caleb
wierd design mind as the yokes fromm bb to chainstays are super thick so you have to run a relatively narrow tyre either way, does clive take solo btw hahaaaaaa
