El Cristoff
hi all, about 2 months ago i used to run koxx browns. i though there were, to be honest, shit. they offered me no hold and limited bite.so i changed pads, thinking that the orange viz! pads (that i had used before and were quite frankly kick ass) would still have the same compound. but they didn't.my brakes have gradually been getting worse and worse, and worse still, i have lost my koxx bloxx, that i have just realised were bedding in still.so i need new pads, and it has came down to the two most talked about; coust and koxx.so, which ones would people recommened me, and why.cheers all, chris

El Cristoff
cousts are designed for grinds, right?
Simpson
Just get whichever pads you want? look in the pad review as there both pretty popular pads with loads of reviews... as for the voting it looks about 50/50 i chose cousts as they were awsome, they wernt too sharp and could have like a "half bite" and a full bite depending on how far you pulled the lever whereas other brake pads are either completly on or offI think the cousts in CNC'ed backings were uber powerfull.... koxx browns have never worked for me... 1 plaz and 1 koxx brown is the best pad set up ever! but 2 koxx bloxx have never worked for me ever
monty boi
Coust Pads are really Amazing, But when i was Running Magura i always went for Koxx Browns, there amazing, great bite, great grip and an exellent wear rate.Adam

Danny Kearns
I have never used any of these set up's i am about to mention but they are the best set up's i have ever seen:Zhi Zm1 Mod frameDenguraDeng hosingDeng slavesOil bleedHeatsink Snowys in Cnc backings. And the other:Zoo! Python 2007 mod frameMagura hs33 2006Magura placstic hosing but braided bridge hoseMagura slavesWater bleedPlazmatic Crm's in Cnc backings. Both of them set up's were absolutly amazing when i had ago on each of the bikes. Best brakes i have felt/heard. Really bitey and grabby, hold like anything and VERY loud honk.As for Coustsinks and Koxx browns.Coustsinks - I have never used or been on a bike with them on, but i have heard nothing but good things about them.Koxx Browns - I have used these pads back on my T-rex, my brake was amazing, loads of bite, very grabby, held like anything, VERY loud honk. I recommend these pads . I would also try giving them ago in Cnc backings .Danny.
Janson
coustellier pads are really grabby. if you ask me, the bloxx have (for me!) had better hold. the coustelliers are definitely not slippy pads, but i use them mainly because of the grab. i LOVE grabby brakes for trials. this is a reason i never really liked my rear vee. it held lots but it just wasn't grabby enough. El Cristoff
*newb time*what exacty do you mean by grap, hold and bike?
ogre
*newb time*what exacty do you mean by grap, hold and bike?grab is more imediate, like when you start to push the pad onto the rim you feel it jerk+slow you down, hold means the wheel just doesn't move for shit even at a silly angle where the bike should just skid off an edge the wheel stays locked, i think it's 'cause softer grabbier pads tend to get cut by the grind so they loose hold (may be way off)

AdamAllen
Had numerous amounts of koxx browns and hated every set of them...ocasionally they would work good but usually not very well at all. Then the Saturday just gone i finally got my coust cnc's and put a fresh grind on my rim and i'm still amazed by the brake its so "grabby" as said before.. and holds more than good enough, Like simpson said also i find that you can either have the pad on half hold or full hold... i really can not fault these pads Coustsinks ***However i would like to try plaz crm rubber in cnc'ed backings i think that could be a good competing pad.Adam x

Ash-Kennard
seriously guys, if they had the same backings, either both powerpad or both cnc'ed the koxx browns come out on top everytime. its just your comparing koxx in the powerpad and the coust in cnc. i voted koxx, they always have been and always will be the shit

Coust came out on top as far as im concerned, due to the longetivity of their performance, the browns required more maintenance to maintain the performance of the cousts. Walleee
They are both brilliant pads, just the coust's need less maintenance to keep them brilliant. The performance of my browns declined after a few rides and they had developed a shitty surface where they met the rim, after cleaning the performance was great again, but I havn't had to bother cleaning the coust's for a good while now.
