harmertrials
where would I be able to buy a rear disk mount for my 07 gu? Or do I have to make one? Sorry if that is a bit noobish... Also, I need it welding on and do I then need a complete respray?
Krisboats
Welding it will unecessarily weaken the frame, you'd probably be better off with an adapter. There've been plenty of them made before and they seem to work quite well, in fact there was a topic not so long ago that had a diagram to show the measurements of where the mount holes and stuff should be. harmertrials
Ok cheers, yer sorry. I didn't think of using the search. So is there an adapter out there to fit an 07 gu or are they still in development/not going to be available?Any information would be great. Guest
cool if you could get removable disc mounts, would be a hell of alot cheaper than getting a new frame just for the mount
Krisboats
company called A2Z make themwould probably fit. google it !ioloAren't the A2z ones bolt on ones rather than a full on adapter that mounts to the dropouts and brake lugs? From what i heard of the A2z ones they work alright going forwards but don't clamp enough to stay seated when you apply the brake whilst travelling backwards. So for something like trials where the brake needs to have a good amount of backwards hold this adapter would not be very helpful in the slightest. There was one on the onza site that looked alright, looked a bit flimsy but customisable to multiple bike sizes at the same time.Other than that get a hold of a piece of aluminium or steel and get designing/filing/cutting drilling and tapering. Or ask a suitable company/individual (edd potts for example: Dave85 on here) to see if you could commision them to build you a custom one for your frame. The best looking one i've seen to date was for a python i think. Anyway, it hooked over the wheel axle and bolted into the 4 bolt mounts too so it was nice and secure. It fitted snugly across the length of the seatstay to distribute braking force and it looked to be soildy built.

I think I will contact Edd Potts because I don't really want to make one myself... I'm a bit naff at that.
