dont you just hate it when you buy some parts, get all exited when putting it together and then something doesnt work. pisses me off a treat...

ok. i bought some new forks and new hub which i laced onto my old rim. i set up the disc perfect so it doesnt rub on the pads but it still seemed to rub on something. after checking it out it turns out that its rubbing on the actuall calliper. Its hard to explain but the actuall edge of the disc is rubbing on the bit of the calliper nearest where the pin holds the pads in. ummm, its really hard to explain. i will try and get some pictures. thanks

sorry should have put a bit more info in. ok, its the 06 i think echo lite forks, and hope xc hub, its the 06 or 05 hope mono trial with a 160mm rotor. it was fine on my old shimano deore hub and onza lite guy forks. so i think it might be something to do with the setup. heres the picture. the disc is rubbing where the edge enters the calliper.

Sounds like Deng's little helpers in the factory couldn't follow the specifications of an international standard disc mount properly to me.

if its just rubbing in one point try loosening the disc rotor bolts, twisting the rotor backwards (as if there was a breaking force on it) and doing them up then, just to center the rotor a bit better. Other option I've seen done plenty of times, is to just spin the wheel fast and hold a file to the edge of the rotor to take a tiny bit off.

mine used to rub on the side of the caliper and it made a little notch, then i just undone the quick release and made it a bit tighter and it didnt rub at all, but if its rubbing on the top it is your forks for sure just like you have found (Y)

edit: just had a thought, if those forks are second hand they may have taken a fair bit of stess by the previous owner/s, this may have causes a bit of stretch or a bend in the weld or the mount itself, just have a good look you may be able to force it back in place :P, but i wouldnt be too happy buying forks and having them not work properly, if the previous owner didnt run front disc then you cant really have a badger against him, but have a good look mate thats all i can say

Are these aluminium forks? Sorry havn't read but if they are it's unlikely that the weld would get stretched or bent, more likely that the mount itself would get damaged but usually that sort of thing would snap before bending.... I'd put it down to deng's mass production, perhaps a bit of tool wear making the tolerance that bit wider. I know my echo forks give me the same ball ache every now and then.
