Eno Freewheel Servicing

Captain Scarlet

Recommended Posts

Well when my lockring came loose on my ENO, I took it apart and put a smidge of LM Grease (Castrol bearing grease), and some oil to thin the grease.

At first it was very quiet, but now around a month on it has worked itself in, but still doesn't compare to anyone elses ENO that I hear, or how it sounded before I put the grease in.

Looking to get it a bit louder, I think I will take it apart again sometime and see what is left of the grease I put in, but does anyone have any recommendations as to what to put in to make it sound louder, or what is the best alternative for the freewheel.

Thanks,

-Tom

They're p*ss easy to service,I never put any oil/lube in because I also was just after the noise.Didn't really do it any good though.

Zoo baby!

Doesn't really do it any harm either though.

So just make it bone dry inside and use it :P

Adding lube to the internals will only make the freewheel more likely to skip, more likely to slip back with more lube.

Open it out, (see onzaboymarks ENO thread in FAQ) and clean all the crap out. Then very lightly oil it.
