ConnorPowell
Hi,Seeing all these like ribo trials shoes, i was wondering what the advantages are of wearing trials shoes?Cheers Connor
hugh_b
from wearing trials shoes (i wear ribo's by the way) i find i have alot more grip on the pedals in all conditions, also more grip on stuff like rocks etc when you fall off or dab etc. I feel they give me loads of support but give me far more flexibility than somehing like a skate shoe. They alos feel light on your feet. I have had trials shoes of some description for about 6 years now and ribo's are deffinately the best, the new ones off tarty are what you wanna go for, they are "proper" ribo's and the sude material is far more durable than any other material used on ribo's/ribo branded shoes.. I personally could never go back to any other shoe for riding in. Their just pure awesome.

Oskar
My DC sk8 shoes have much better grip on my dmr v12 pedals, my Try-All give more ankle support though. But I prefer my DC, and you dont look like a clown wearing them Edited July 26, 2007 by Oskar

boon racoon
trials shoes = biggest con ever.... seriously - why ?as well as riding a bike with no seat and deafening brakes..you get to look like a gimp!? and pay £80 for it
AdamR28
It's just like riding a tiny bike with a seat pushed all the way down, wearing tight jeans, a bowl on your head and a polo shirt... Not meant in a harsh way, its just trials is pretty odd anyway!
chrishayton
trials shoes = biggest con ever.... seriously - why ?the ankle suport is the key thing for me, and they fit so much better than skateshoes which just fall off your feet is not laced up super tight and then therefore uncomfy
Waynio
^^ ^^ ^^ Connor, if i was you ride your bike in what you feel comfortable in. enjoy riding for ridings sake, dont dress up cuz people say they do better things, at the end of the day, its the riders ability, not anything else to do with the parts on the bike or the clothing you have got on.Wayne. lil Jsy Chris
I where Ribos myself and find that they give you more grip and flexability but I think that you should just ride in what you feel comfortable in.Chris
26inch
the ankle suport is the key thing for me, and they fit so much better than skateshoes which just fall off your feet is not laced up super tight and then therefore uncomfyMaybe you should just buy the correct size shoes? The ankle support thing can be sorted buy buying high/mid top skate shoes, or just wearing ankle supports, Ive never owned a pair of trials shoes but the only person I know who has had some only wore them for comps when you have to, he just used skateshoes for riding normaly
liam-pantera
i tired some rebo's once and i hated them same for tryall shoes i can understand the protection benafit but i just cant seem to justifiy the price so instead i buy top end skate shoes with flip protection and ankle suports built in like dvs' and etnies . Orgun_Donor
Classic Checked Vans..... best shoes ever for riding in. Aslong as you get the right shoe size, they fit like a glove, have thinish soles and great shoe grip pattern, and at £30ish quid, can get 3 pairs for the prices of ribos, and then mix and match colours ...... altho no ankle support. And if you really are after ankle support then i remember Tarty saying the ribos or try all only over slight protection just to help the ankle stop rolling so easy. Get the 661 ankle supports. Cheaper in the long run.
Janson
I like Ribos. They're comfy, grip the pedals well, fit snugly. Plus, having a pair of shoes dedicated to riding I won't get my normal shoes ripped or dirty. I find the Ribos to last a year or a bit more, mine are around 12-13 months old and they're becoming pretty raped, but they work.I guess I could buy some other shoes to ride in, I used to ride in skate shoes. Need to find some that are snug and have good soles. Converse chucks fit nicely but the soles are way too thin for me to ride in.

I think the main reasons for me have been hit on the head by Rob (Janson).
