liam-pantera Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Share Posted July 19, 2007 yh thanks ad101 thats the frame i ment im sorry about the link i could get the right one i dont no how many of you know what maxel is but il explain ; maxel is a new technology thats beening used in 08 for hardcore downhill frames to replace 12mm through axels . as u can see on the dropout there is a rebate that has been cut and a special quick release fits inthere securing it tightly check it out in the most recent mbuk . RobinJI Posted July 21, 2007 Report Share Posted July 21, 2007 The whole maxel thing is cool, but by no means is it a replacement for a proper through-axle, it's kinda a halfway house between the two really. It's been around for years, Marzocchi used it on some of their 1999/2000ish forks such as the Jr.T's and some of the Z1's, I had a pair of the Jr.T's, and it was nice how easy it was to take the wheel out compared to a full on through-axle, but they were no where near as stiff as a fork with a full 360deg dropout. RockShox have been using it a couple of years now on the Pikes, but I think they've got it a bit more sorted now with a much deeper insert for the quick release bit, still a bit of a halfway house in my opinion.
