Fixed Pants™
Replace the bearings if the pedals are old.Or just get new pedals.(Bearings are most likely ufcked) Edited July 15, 2007 by Fat Pants
Tomm
Do they rattle about loads?Sometimes the bearings just work loose. Pop the end cap off, and there's two nuts under there. The one on the outside is a lock nut. Undo that one, and then take off the other nut which preloads the bearings (and a washer). Stick some grease in and put the preload nut back on. Tighten it up enough so the pedal doesn't rattle too much but still spins freely. Then replace the other bits in the order they came off. Tighten the locking nut reasonably tight, but make sure the pedal still spins afterwards. If it doesn't, you have to loosen it off and then loosen off the preload nut slightly (quarter of a turn) and then tighten it all back up again. T.McMillan
Take them apart and clean it all in petrol i mean eveything and re grease them thats what i do with them, and they will work fine, or if the bearing races are corroded etc just get new ones. They are easy to take apart just pop of that black end cap(with a small screwdriver or stanley knife), there will be a nut inside undo that and there will be another behind it and undo that be careful to not loose bearings, take them apart over a tray or box to catch some parts, give thema clean and wack it all back together i think the DMR website has picturs of cross sections of how they come apart.Tom
JaMmY
I would say that instead of dealing with buying and replacing the bearings in your current pedals just buy new ones!!! Will save alot of time!!!!
ilikeriding
Leave them until they are totally f**ked over, mine have been doing that for about 6 months and still going strong...
