Ken Livingstone is apparently planning to use tax payer's money to build an enormous mosque costing an estimated £100M in the London docklands.

Wouldn't it be better to spend the money on a new hospital or improved transport facilities. Anything but such a scheme as this:

The plan is for the mosque to be so big so that people flying in from all over the world for the 2012 Olympics will see it as the biggest landmark in London , bigger than St Pauls, Westminster Abbey or Wembley Stadium.

The vote so far is 56% in favour. It looks like the Muslim community in the UK is casting its vote in droves, and as usual the British are burying their heads in the sand....

It is an undemocratic use of British Tax payers money, especially when our Churches which are 100's of years old get no government funding to keep their structures standing, and we are supposedly a Christian nation.

I'm all for a multicultural society, but that sort of thing takes it a bit far IMO. I very much doubt that a £100m church would be built in another country if a few English folk went and lived there. The current terror situation makes the decision even more strange too I think, obviously we can't point the finger at muslims for everything that has happened, but as far as I am aware there are links between similar/the same cultures and the attacks? Making our country even more 'friendly' would surely encourage further conflict between the British public and immigrants, spending our money for their purpose.

On a similar note, I wonder how many mosques there are already are in London?

i dont see what everyones problem with this is, its a good idea, they obviously need somewhere to worship in, spending that money on a christian church would be a total waste, as very few people in the uk are religious and church goers no more, whereas many muslims living in the uk are. the muslim community is also now on its second or third generation making them as british as you or me. the muslim community is a better one than the white "christian" community, while were out getting asbo's there studying, becoming doctors, accountants, lawyers, those that are less academic are providing services to the community working in convenience shops, petrol stations and off licenses, while the white community sponges off the nations dole(as those white people who are on benefits unneccesarily sponge a lot more out of our taxes than the £100 million needed to fund a mosque).

also think we as a nation should become more multicultural, if our nation was to become bi lingual, and speak arabic, it would become beneficial, we would be able to communicate easier with people in call centres, be able to speak languages of up and coming nations, so we could do business deals with them easier, would also reduce costs in the police etc, if interperators werent needed to communicate with terror suspects if we all spoke there religion.

if we embraced there faith,maybe then we wouldnt be the focus of there terror attacks

different budgets my friend, its not all exactly from the same pot, each cause has a certain amount of money set aside for it. you cant just go taking money from the gay rights fund, or the ethic diversity fund to help the nhs, as its not allowed, and would also be unfair for those the money was taken from, and itd be doubly unfair on any homosexual muslims

murders by doctors in the uk:

muslim doctors have caused far fewer murders/intentional deaths than those by "white " british doctors.
