Walk In Trials Shops

I thought today that it would be really nice if you could actually walk into a shop and have a look and feel of the trials component/components you would like to buy. I no that because of the techniqally advanced time trials has come into existence people that own the shops find it a lot easier to reach a mass market and make more money without openning many shops. It just seems a sad really :( . What are your views on this matter?

Due to trials being so small, it wouldn't really be feasible to do that unfortunately. There's only 2 or 3 shops on the whole country who stock a decent range of parts, so you'd have to travel miles to see anything!

People are welcome to come and look at our place given a bit of notice, but the old distance problem comes about straight away! (Postcode PR5 6FN if you wanted to look on a map.)

Partz - it is a bit like that, it's rare for someone to come in and leave without spending at least some money

wouldn't you end up paying more if it was ina shop, 'cause i'd imagine it'd cost loads more to have a highstreet shop that could actually stock everything than it does for a ware-house away from everything. internet ***!

Like what adam said about trials been small etc. some cycle shops stock a fair majority of trials stuff my local bike shop i work at stocks try-all,koxx,zhi,v!z,hope,magura,tensile,middleburn and too me thats reasonable ive bought my wheels from there but if its stuff like pads i need i go on the internet as we can only sell the basic magura pads.

Another problem with 'normal' shops is that they generally don't actually stock much kit - never all the combinations in my experience. For example, to stock just one of every Try-All rim you need to hold 67 individual rims, I don't think I've even been into a normal bike shop who has that many rims in, never mind of just one brand! Trials is crazy...

Edit: Miscalculated, its actually 76!

That's crazy. I always wondered whether you kept one (or more?) of everything? All these Deng parts must be pretty annoying - having to stock about 30 identical brake levers that differ only in their CNCing and colour :P

It would be really great if there was a 'walk in' bike shop that did stock loads of trials parts, bmx and freeride, and had it's own skate park, trials park and freeride area. Where you could get a custom bike built up and give a try in the shop, then for example try a diffrerent stem and try it again.

Or they could have shop builds that people could have a go on.

Of course this is probably unrealistic as it would cost way too much to set up and run (although perhaps there would be more money in the freeride/DH stuff).

Still it's a nice idea though - I'm lucky if I can walk into a shop and get a bolt of the correct size.

Usually hold 2-8 or more of Try-All rims in each option, depending on popularity. 28h front rims are relatively rare so fewer of those than, say, 32h 26" rear rims in black.

Luckily (for us!) most of the Adamant/Czar/GU/ZOO parts have been discontinued, with just the lever blades, bashrings, cranks, headsets, bars and boosters coming in 2 instead of 6 colours now. But yeah, when they were first released it meant a lot of different items! Those sorts of stock combinations are not something a 'normal' shop would not be confident in having, with mail order you have a much larger 'audience'.

Old unpopular colours are discounted if they don't sell within a reasonable period of time usually :)
