Modstock Chain Tension

I've got an Echo Control 116mm and use the snail cams that came with my Zoo fixed hub.

Problem is... the snail cams are dented like cheese and they're at there max to keep any tension on the chain. I ordered some Monty cams and guess what? They're too small to fit on the hub :( Does anyone know what snail cams would fit? I think removing a link in my chain would make it too tight. Also... the chain becomes slack after about half hour of riding!

I was thinking of getting a 74Kingz, but my mate's had no end of trouble and to be honest I'd rather not have something that could get snapped off.

What do others use with 116mm 26" frames?

Cheers,

Fyfey :turned:

When i rode mod i had shit loads of trouble with snail cams i could never get a decent tension and when i did it never stayed like that for long. I did find in end that the monty cams worked best so just drill yours to fit. The 74 kings tensioners do work fairly well i believe if you do set them up well.

Isn't one of the main points about running 116mm is you don't have the hassle of a 135mm tensioner hanging down from the right side of the bike, so if you sidehop etc it was break anything? So why use a 74 kingz tensioner? Apparently they don't work very well unless you set them up good and i don't think it is worth £30 for a bit of plastic and a hacksaw blade type thingy lol

I think you should drill out the cams you got now and try that, it wouldnt be hard to do anyway, if not, just get some cams that will and don't use an old tensioner for 135mm bikes as it kind of defeats the whole object of a 116mm.
