T-Limburn
well im basically wondering if theres any way of removing the spring from a classic hub without the proper CK tool?cant find tarts vid anywhere either.help!!
Janson
yeah. i have posted my ghettotastic king service pics on the forum about 10 times. they involve a hammer, a screwdriver, a socket and some force. It's not good for the hub, you might break the bearing or even deform the shell. The least damage you'll do is just denting the spring retainer (which is fine).i attatched the pictars. i take no responsibility for you or your hub, PLEASE don't do this unless you REALLY have to. I did it because my hub was skiptastic due to f**ked drive/driven rings.and as with anything round being pressed in, be methodic, gentle and be sure it goes in straight, or you'll ruin the hub. AdamR28
Thankfully the diameter of the headset rocket is too large to fit through, I think...
darrenhopper
That's ghetto as hell! How tough can it possibly be to track down someone who'll let you borrow the proper tool? But hey, if you mash the hell out of it..... Post some nice pictures! It'll serve as warning! Janson
Removing the non driveside bearing is kinda tricky though. And for the record, my hub has been fine since I did the full ghetto service. Skipped maybe twice...But don't do it! I have mad King skills.

max-t
Stretched mine a while ago and its been a beast, hasn't skipped ever ever ever (think you get the point)got it out fine using a hammer and a socket and just went round in circles tapping it out slowly.Spring plate is a bit mashed but it doesnt matter cos its the side on the non drive side so it aint gonna effect anything.
