Fixed Pants™
Right, someone sexy gave me a Julie for next to nothing, it has a hole in the reservoir cap which i think is meant to be there, but when i bleed it (bath bleed, will water rape it?) and put the cap back on and everything, water just squirts out and it f**ks.Any bodges/fixes i can do? Or will i need to get another brake?Thankies. It's an 02 julie btw. Edited July 10, 2007 by Fat Pants
NileBrown™
Erm You shudn't really give a disk a water bleed but when I had my julie running I did use water and found that when I bath/sink bleeds I always seem to get fluid/water above the rubber diapham and meant it was leaking through the breathing hole. So to stop this, take the resivoir cap off and remove the diaphram from the cap and fill the resivoir up to the top. Then slowly put the diapham on, making sure no air is present and there should be some overflow. This should be air free and then the resivoir cap is ready to be screwed back on - however you have to make sure that little hole is clear to remove any crap from it so it can 'breathe'after doing this try it and it should be working fine

Fixed Pants™
errim pretty sure you dont bleed disk brakes with water...Which is why you should swap bb7 for magura... Erm, i dunno, will it be sealed enough to block up the hole? (is it tight enough around the sides?)
matt rushton
The water will boil up when you go down a hill with your front brake on. As discs get alot hotter then rim brakes do. So yeah don't use water. Not too sure on your first question any pictures???Matt Rushton

Jamie_Neal
I've got a Julie caliper that has been water bled and seems to work fine but I was running it with a HS33 lever - disc brake with TPA, magura should take note. You're welcome to the caliper for a fiver and the price of postage but I'd like to hang onto the lever as my rear one seems to be starting to play up. Although I'm not sure it is IS - I think it takes a 170mm disc but I can check if you're interested (I haven't got a disc for it).Or I've got a hope M4 180mm which works fine for £30 - It was originally for a Boxxer fork so its had a spanner made to fit as an adapter to convert it to IS but it works fine.PM me if you're interested.Cheers,Jamie
