jandamna
hi sorry, i was just wondering if you could help me with some silly little questions i've got, 1. i was wondering how good the KMC narrow chain is, as i just found 1 in my cupboard (don't ask) and was wondering whether to use it2. what would happen if i put a 24t chain ring into my 22t middleburns? would i be able to get away with it or not? (pro trials)thanks in advance Edited July 6, 2007 by jandamna
Grant H
the chain would be fine, but get a thicker chain unless your using gears.i dont think it will work, the chain will probably be sticking out further than the bashguard.why dont you just try it? Dang!
KMC narrow- as in the 710? The 710 is a fine chain. If your doing gnarly drops and gaps swap up to the 810.I agree w/ Grant H- the chain and the teeth will more than likely be exposed. Why a 24? Why a 24?ye i tried and seems that the teeth arnt exposed but the chain is, so no point, but i want a 24 on the front so i can go 18-24cause i' am 16-22 and the new freewheel i want only comes in a 18 i think ill probably end up buying a new bashgaurd for 40 odd quid! lol

Muel
that gearing is wayyyyyyyyyyy too heavy.Agreed, 22-18 seems to be the norm. You could always put the freewheel on the front unless you want to keep your burns.
jandamna
really? 22-18 seems very very easy! most of friends run much heavier gears, but i might just give 18-22 a go thanks for the advice guys
macy`d
the chain is rubbish for trials after a mouth of riding it, it will snap on you and then just keep snapping so i wouldn't go there to be honest if anything get a half link conspiracy chain. no that wouldn't work. ben gray
don't get a half link chain, an 22-18 is a very good gear for all round trials use.
