Hope Mono Mini Problem.....

Recommended Posts

Hi there i have a problem with my hope mono mini front disc brake, The problem is that i took off my front wheel so i could fit the bike in a car... all sounds well so far i know.... thing is i pulled the lever by accident and now the pads have gone inwards (compressed) and they didnt return,

So i now have not enough gap to be able to put the wheel back in because the disc rotor cant get in between both pads, i believe by the looks of it its just one of the pads that hasnt gone back in, i tried pushing it back in but had no success, So i was wondering if anyone out there could explain to me why this happend and how i can get my brake back to how it was before.

Thanks

Daniel Griffith.

HI well basicaly take your pads out and place a screw driver in between your pistons and try to lever them back in but you have to give it abit or force bit it if it is air locked just take your top cap off and then try making sure you don't spill the fluid though and it should release the air.

chris hope i helped

NO STOP!!!

ALWAYS leave your pads in, the pistons are made of a heat retardant material, which is quite soft.

Just get a big flat blade screw driver and ease them apart slightly, then try to fit the wheel in, if it doesn't fit, ease them a bit more. Don't over do them, or you will push oil out of the lever.

Ok maybe not then i didn't know that sorry make sure that the screw driver is clean then so that you don't contaminate the pads so that the brake doesn't go rubbish.

When I do it, I clean the screw driver with paint thinners first. Just to be that extra bit cleaner.

Be very gentle.

No you don't need to twist the screw drive you won't get any lever age just lever it open also you don't need to pump the lever.

chris

Just slide the screwdriver in as far as it will go and gentle lever the pads apart, don't twist it as this could damage the pads.

Don't pump the lever either.
